Do you have a stat for wide open threes, out of curiosity? Lillard is one of the very few players, ever, who has shown a consistent ability to shoot from 30' and shoot contested threes off the dribble. In other words, he has a historically unusual shooting ability, much like Curry does. McCollum is more like Klay Thompson, in this regard, to Lillard's Curry--he's a traditionally great shooter, while Lillard has a shooting skillset shared by very few. I think that if Lillard limited himself to the threes that McCollum takes, he'd shoot at least as high a percentage, whereas I don't think McCollum can hit all the shots Lillard can.
Asking who is better CJ or Dame? Is like asking who would you rather sleep with, Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Aniston? My vote is, go to bed with Angelina, and wake up next to Jennifer.
I’m an old man, and yet have a very limited understanding of woman. The one lesson I have learned (the hard way) is to stay away from crazy bitches, like Cousins.
I can't imagine trading either Jolie or Aniston for anybody... including Cousins. But to each his own.
CJ is great. Dame is better. Other guys have been stepping up lately and Dame, being the great leader he is, is letting them do their thing. We're not talking about Russel fucking Westbrook here, Dame is willing to pass the ball for the overall good of the team. CJ has been hot, so CJ has been getting the ball. The people here who's memory goes back farther than a week or so do not have to ask who is better. If CJ keeps this up for another couple years then he will be better.
Dame has been great since his rookie season...CJ has been great for 2 seasons....people forget CJ was injured his first two seasons...makes Dame the ironman and Dame the better player given their age and their accomplishments...not saying CJ couldn't challenge him as their careers progress but now, it's Dame
You say that like its a good thing that Lillard takes as many bad shots as he does. I REALLY wish he would limit himself.
I didn't say it like it was a good thing or a bad thing, just a thing. Last season, Lillard was a pretty destructive force to defenses because he could regularly hit shots that no one else but Curry could. This season, as I've said in a couple of threads, he's struggling with the right balance of "absurd shots" and "open shots." It's actually positive to have a guy who can take, and make, really, really difficult shots because even the loveliest offense doesn't create easy, open shots every time down. Shots with unusual range also stretch a defense to the breaking point, creating better opportunities for the offense. But, obviously, there's a limit to it--get too crazy-shot-happy and you tilt it towards the negative, missing too many. I think last season, Lillard basically had the right balance and this season, he's taking too many difficult shots.
Right now I think we could get a little bit more for CJ in trade than we could for Dame. That means CJ is better because he has the greater value based on the current NBA market.
But there is more demand for shooting guards than point guards currently in the NBA. The list of teams that could use CJ is longer than the list of teams who could use Lillard.
I've thought CJ was better than Dame since last year's playoffs and Clippers fans were saying so too.
