Positionless basketball, baby! Is John Stockton a better PG than Steph Curry? Is there a point to this question?

Instead of PG you can say the shortest member of a starting 5. Magic always had a shorter teammate and they usually guarded the other teams PG. Can't have Dame play with another short guard and have a contending defense either.

Yes, I wanted to know if Ricky Rubio cracked your top 10 list.

You create threads more often than you change your underwear, and YOU'RE going to question someone's point in making one?

Speak for your own underwear. Also threads are not the same as questions, which seems kind of obvious. (Also: if you read the original post, "this question" referred to MY question, not the OP's.)

Top 10 lists are a creation of Big List, so I refuse to participate.

Yes....Dame is top 10 ...he's also top 75 in all players, not just guards. His numbers tell the story...Steve Nash wasn't close to the talent of Dame ...Nash got a ton of assists but also had a ton of turnovers...ask Chauncey or Isiah and they'd but Dame top ten no problem. Many of the guards on the list had way better supportive rosters to have playoff success but talent wise and production wise...Dame is top 10

Meanwhile some moron warriors fans are over on Reddit saying that Curry would have to be in the conversation for GOAT if he wins another ring.

Dame's facilitating has been way underrated and unappreciated on the National level. They just focus on his amazing shooting and scoring prowess. His pinpoint passing from off angles, cross court, in traffic, is a thing of beauty. Imagine if he had had, a true marksmen on the other end of those, like a Korver, or Reddick. So many of these passes ended in bricks by teammates. He's a better post defender than given credit for. His lateral quickness isn't as great which has lead to being bypassed on way to hoop. But he is super fast north and south, which allows him to blow past would be defenders, including top NBA defenders. He's the best closer i've ever seen. He's an assassin when the games on the line, that few have equaled. Been watching the NBA since '77. He's in my top 10.

Another thing for doubters to ponder. Dame's averaged more points and assist per game than Steph Curry career wise. That with no Klay Thompson level shooter beside him. Pretty "FREAKIN" amazing.

What about Steve Nash, Baron Davis, Kevin Johnson and Penny Hardaway?

I wouldn't say it's a horrible discussion, Curry 3pt % and volume and warping of the defense is off the charts. Could at least make the argument. I have him much much higher than Kobe.

I'd put Dame about all of them except Nash peak was superior but he didn't have many years of it.

Curry doesn’t play defense. Can’t be the GOAT if you suck at defense. MJ, Kobe, LeBron…. All exceptional defenders.

Dame's lack of consistent defense makes me think he's not. I think he's better than a lot of those greats, but defense puts him behind other guys.

Maybe that's just a product of how little help he's had though...

Yup. If you’re putting together a list of scoring guards, Dame might be top 10, but if you’re looking at an overall top 10 I don’t think he can be on the list.

This doesn't make any sense to me, shouldn't the GOAT be who best can lead a team to wins and contend? If they outplay the opponent more on one end than anyone else can do on two ends why does the offense/defense split matter?

Nobody has led their team to more wins in a season that Curry.

I'm not saying I put Curry above Jordan, I'm just saying if he has another great run and wins a 5th title it's possible that could be a legit discussion.

Yes Curry has Klay and other great teammates. But Jordan never won without Pippen, and had some great rosters too in Rodman/Grant, Harper/Paxson, Kerr/Armstrong, Kukoc/Cartwright, etc

Klay looks like a shell of himself and the league is way deeper now than when Jordan won.

The GOAT is the greatest player of all time. Jordan has six. Kobe had five. LeBron has four.

At this point rings are only a portion of the conversation. So if you stack up Jordan or LeBron as complete players, they are miles better than Curry.
