If your not going to try don't waste our time...and if you lose in debate don't blame it on your lack of effort.

YES MJ is very overrated. He's thought of as the greatest thing in NBA history, he isn't.

MJ is not overrated. Sometimes, I think that MJ is underrated. Why? People compare anyone to MJ these days... For instance, people claim Kobe is better than MJ; people claim LeBron will be better than MJ; and after the Finals, some people claimed that DWade is MJ! Michael Jordan is by far one of the greatest basketball players of all time, if not THE GOAT. People give anyone and everyone who plays good a comparison to MJ. Yeah, some people may deserve it, but c'mon! No matter what happens:MJ is MJ.

Players like Elgin Baylor did exactly the same thing MJ did, only 30 years earlier. Where's the love for Elg? It's the media's fault. They overhyped EVERYTHING MJ did. He's was great, no doubt, but by no means was he the GOAT.

Elgin Baylor never did what Michael Jordan did, infact, he never even won a championship in his entire career. In a time when scoring was up, and the top players had nice stats, he was not the scorer that Michael Jordan was. As evidenced by him averaging 27.4 points per game over his career, and Michael Jordan averaging 30.1 points per game.

No, MJ was not overrated. Here is why:-He was the greatest scorer to ever live. He did it on pure skill, unlike say Wilt who did it by purely overwhelming opponents by size and athleticism. MJ scores his 30PPG throughout 90's on fantastic percentages, and did it in a league that was WAY down in PPG, especially considering Wilt played in games where final scores around 150-145 were the norm. MJ was extremely dominant around glass, and as career progressed produced a deadly midrange game and turnaround jumpshot.-MJ was multi-talented. In championship years he didn't need to be playmaker, but in his early year he was at 6-8APG. He was a very good rebounder, and one of the greatest defenders of all time.-MJ was CLUTCH. He always came up when team needed him in big game situations, whether it be with a GW shot, a big 4th quarter, a big game, or simply playing with a bad flu.-He had 6 championships, 5 MVP's, 10x All-NBA first team, 1 time all NBA second team, ROTY, DPOTY, 9 time all defensive first team, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist, ASG MVP 3x, 14x all star, 2x dunk contest champ, NCAA championship.....he was a winner in everything.-He totally spilled every ounce of blood, sweat and tears every time he stepped on the court. He was unlike any other person ever in the league in that regard. 8 hours+ a day in offseason, always practicing hours before anyone else, always out in pre-game warmups before anyone else (I saw this in person)....he was just always improving himself and transforming himself into a player no one could stop in any regard.-You can say what you want about him being too intense or selfish....he wanted to win and be the best in everything. He always did everything he could to win the game, for himself and for team. When he failed he worked harder than anyone else to get back to promise land.-He totally revolutionized the game like no one else before him, not even Wilt. Just look at today's game....before MJ there was no one like him. yes there were highflyers and great scorers, but no one was like MJ. Now it seems like every superstar swingman attmepts to emmulate him...his moves, the way he cut through air, the way he could totally dominate games, game winner, etc... He made dunking and acrobatics something extrodinary and made it a worldwide phenomonan. Yes, there were great dunkers before him like Dr J and Nique, but what do people think of when they here the words dunk, or Air? Yep, MJ. Ask a casual fan who the Human Highlight Reel was, and chances are they wouldn't know. MJ revolutionized the game like no other in that regard. He did things no one had ever seen before, and in a style and creativity no one saw before.
