See, after reading all these peoples posts, I've realized with most people, it all comes down to faith. We have a choice to believe or not, everything has been written in the Bible, Quran, and Torah. You can choice to believe it, or not to. That's my perspective.

Yes it is, but hear me out. I am not a religious person and I have only been to church about twice in my life, because my grandparents made me when I was little, and really had no say in it. But think about it, you are folding your hands, closing your eyes, and talking to nobody and hoping for good things.

I find religion somewhat funny because people actually believe there is a guy named God that is in a place called Heaven above the Earth (even though space is the only thing) and you go there when you die, and God watches over you. Really? Why did my grandmother die? Why do people get infatuated with gun play? Robberies? Murders? etc. etc. etc.

The people that go to church 5+ times a week and are freaks about preaching, preying, etc. - those people kill me. My step brothers dad is like that and its unbelivable. He doesnt allow them to watch Scooby Doo because of "witchcraft." He stopped paying for OnDemand because they have rated R movies on it. He makes them go to church like 4 times a week and forces them to go to a private school he can't even pay for and is 40+ and has never owned a house or anything.

Religion is really a big joke to me. Thinking that a guy named Jesus who got killed is "god" and looks over everyone and sh*t. Whatever man, whatever. That's all crazy to think and people that are religious freaks need to get a life, face reality, and be normal.

My step brothers/sister go to a Christian school and they control their whole life. My oldest brother (count him as brother) got suspended for a day for having a myspace, his friend was suspended for 3. They suspended his cousin for HOLDING HANDS IN THE MALL with his girlfriend. They make them pull their pants up like Steve Ircle and measure their freaking hair/shirt logos!!!! They arent allowed to listen to country because its depressing, they arent allowed to listen to rock because it's "different/depressing", they arent allowed to listen to rap because of "thuggish ways and language". All they are "allowed" to listen to is gospel. BS. They make sure they have all of the students AIM names too.

Religion really is a joke to me and honestly preying is a waste of time. You are talking to air, not a dead guy that watches over you from "heaven." It's one thing to believe but another to be like this.

P.S.: READ MY ENTIRE POST INSTEAD OF BASHING ME FOR JUST SAYING RELIGION IS A JOKE

That's my take on it. I hope I didn't change anyones opinions on me, but whatever I'm stating my thoughts.

I don't expect people like you to believe it... You guys are just a bunch of kids in our new generation who have no morals or beliefs or faith and don't bother opening up the bible or the torah or the quran or whatever book your religon reads.

I've looked at the bible. It's complete bogus and crap someone made up. I love how people claim to know everything and say they can write something that happened 100's of years before they were born. It's all crap.

For some people religion can change lives, people can overcome drug addiction/bad things that have happened in their life by committing their beliefs to a certain religion. Praying is a way of communicating with your "god" and to let things off your chest. I'm kinda in the same boat with a lot of you, I am catholic but it was really forced upon me in a young age. I'm a typical white irish catholic kid from boston who has a huge tight nit family that are all into the catholic culture. I don't even really believe in catholicism or praying or any of that religious stuff to be perfectly honest. I'm probably going to get dismissed from the religion later on in my life, I really don't want to be confirmed in a religion where I really don't agree with all of the practices.

I feel it's great people think clappin their hands together and preying and overcomming drug addictions. But quite frankly, it's all in their head. They stopped because they wanted to, they wanted a better life, and they didn't want to live like that anymore. Not because of a white priest in a large robe that talked to him about a dead guy.

Also there are so many different religions, just because you believe in one means you'll be sent to some seperate place in the sky? If I started a religion called Paul PierceOlogy and everyone that was confirmed and stuck to the practices of the church got to paul pierce heaven and played basketball with paul pierce to the kingdom come, is that a legit religion? If I made a Paul PierceOlogy Bible would that make it legit?

Everything happens for a reason. People die thats the way it goes. We cant have everybody alive the world would be to crowded.
Not every prayer can be answered. Why not post all the wonderful things praying has done rather than what it hasn't. God is letting us fix our own problems. If he stopped the fighting right away we would never learn how to handle the situation. He lets us make our own mistakes and learn from them.
It has worked for tons of people. Theres so many people who have turned there life around through prayer. It works for me.
He's god. Hes a superpower beyond measure.
Agreed. Alot of people pray they win a million dollars then when it doesn't happen they blame god. God does not grant those types of prayers. If he did everybody would be rich.
Its testimonials from different people. The bible was written by 100's of people. People keep passing the information on in life. Its one huge chain link.
I disagree. When people pray to stop using drugs or ect it does help. If you put your hand out to god he will put his hand out to yours.

I don't believe in god but I have morals that I live my life by, but I choose them myself I don't let other people tell me what to believe in.If people were not told when they are children (by parents etc) that god exists, do you honestly think that people would be religious. There might be some, but a very small amount.

exactly ballahloic and celticsballa maybe they are just clapping their hands and praying to nothing but still people have success overcoming things by religion, it gives them committment and support from people they have never seen before. It has been proven to be effective.I disagree. When people pray to stop using drugs or ect it does help. If you put your hand out to god he will put his hand out to yours. [/quote]

Well, I really don't feel like getting into a God argument lol. But I appreciate all of your opinions, and I just don't want you to think of me as some type of bad guy because I don't believe any of that. But either way, no matter what side you are on, you could aruge any of the comments above by either one of us and have a different opinion/answer.

I agree that the blind ritualistic idol worship like praying is wrong, But praying has its positives as well. Reducing stress, and being involved in an organised religion makes good citizens. One of the purposes of religion is to become a better person morally and religions around the world do that if they are followed. Unfortunately human nature is always looking for the easy way to salvation...you know black magic, deitiest, idols, etc. Fun Fact-More people in the UK believe in black magic then in God.
