Considering the team Joe has built is beyond anything we've seen in years and that we replaced the superstar who made it possible with Scoot Henderson....Yeah, things are looking pretty damn good.
He's out for the year. So gives Portland time to move Simons and then Lonzo could be intriguing as a 3rd guard that wouldn't be over relied upon. Or if he doesn't get healthy, would be an expiring contract next off-season. Would allow Portland to prioritize their young guards this year while also solving the pick problem.
depends. If the cost of getting that first back is another first, there's no reason to make that trade. I don't think there's a rush in any event. it's pretty unlikely the Blazers will be out of the lottery in the next 2-3 years the biggest issue, and it's a ways down the road, is that the dumb-ass encumbrance Olshey left on that pick runs thru 2028. And it's 2028 that the Blazers have an unprotected swap with Milwaukee ****************************** you know what really sucks about that trade, besides the encumbrance? that's right, it was a 3 team trade and Olshey could have traded for Markkanen...but chose Nance instead. Geeeeezuuzzz....he was such a shitty GM and he shitty in Portland for a fucking decade
I dunno where to put this but I love it and honestly I kinda hope he does this when he returns with Milwaukee this year.
I'll remind you of how Portland acquired Jeremi Grant... by trading a future 1st they'd acquired (2024 Bucks) which was then turned around and traded again by the Pistons for the rights to draft Jalen Duren. Future unprotected 1st round picks are liquid gold around the trade times STOMP
Vegas currently has the W's something like the #6 overall most likely to win a title this upcoming season. But of course they are an older team & when older guys get injured they tend to stay injured so the wheels could always fall off. I'm guessing they'll have a pretty good year and Portland will land an extra late 1st in whats thought to be a poor draft. STOMP
I made that comment because of the kickbacks to the following 2 years (25, 26). That's why I said it. Since it gets less protected the 2nd year and unprotected the 3rd.
haul noun [C] (AMOUNT) I was lead to believe that Dame was only worth a solid bench player, some young scrubs, and a couple marginal picks. To me, this looks like a HAUL. So far, similar to what a far younger star, with a smaller contract and no demands commanded in a less restrictive cap environment. I'm voting yes. Cronin pillaged the league for max value. And he's still likely to get more.
Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday net Blazers huge haul, and Joe Cronin has already locked up Executive of the Year https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...-has-already-locked-up-executive-of-the-year/
Would be very classy, I expect they turn the lights off and yes he does that Jan31! Just hope Dame isn't banged up or something that day.
That was actually a protected pick as well, top4 NOP would keep it. Yes Blazers having 4 years of unprotected draft equity plus top4 protected Golden State this year along with 3 good vets is a VERY impressive haul - especially for a 33 year old 200+ million contract no defense small guard.
