Is there anyway the Blazers sign Kevin Durant?

The iso ball isn't Durant's fault, it's the coaches. That's how Brooks and Donavan have decided to use him. I think Durant wants to play in a real system like Stotts' offense. He'd get easier looks.

Why wouldn't Durant not be able to play on an actual team?

Some people only know how to play one-on-world. If Durant is ready willing and able to play on a real team after enduring the apparent dysfunction that is OKC, he'd obviously make us contenders. If he's part of the OKC dysfunction then never mind.

If he comes here itll be because he wants to play on a real team. So if he magically decided to sign with us, then I'd have no worries whatsoever.

Dame and CJ also got accused of playing 'Hero Ball' in the closing quarters against the Warriors as well. Like OKC last night, they would move the ball for 3 quarters and then go 1-on-whatever in the final period and lose the lead. Whether that is because of their defense of just tendency to want to take over, it was a similar script to what we say last night.

Jordan was the same way when he was young and it took till almost 30 before he started including teammates like Paxson/Kerr for big shots when the defense was ramped up against him.

Well they lost their lead last night in the third quarter and only came back in the fourth because of KD going one on one.

KD and Russ had 19 and 21 shots respectively.

    Ibaka: 5/11
    Adams: 4/11
    Roberson: 2/11
    Waiters: 2/9
    Kanter: 4/7

IN a deciding game 7, that shot distribution is fine.

In contrast, Steph and Klay shot 24 and 19 shots respectively.

In game 6 what you said had some merit, not last night.

KD is a baller. He's a top 3 player in the NBA. We shouldn't be nitpicking his game and potential fit when we just need talent everywhere. You build around guys like KD.

I wasn't necessarily referring to just last night and Durant. Last night Durant was the best shooter on his team.....get him the ball more. Westbrook went 'Hero Ball' while make less shots and not getting the ball to people who were shooting a high percentage. That and he doesn't want Kanter in the game who was also playing well and was a big reason they won games 3 and 4.

Coaching bro. Coaching. Stotts offense has a great amount of player and ball movement.

These are the last 16 champions. The one trend that you see is the winning team having a top five player in the league. We currently have one borderline top 10, and one maybe top 25. Even if we even have the tiniest of shots at getting such a guy... we have to go for it. Doesn't matter how he fits or how his game works in our system. Rather, we cater to his strengths and maximize those talents.

    2015: Curry
    2014: Spurs revenge tour
    2013: LBJ
    2012: LBJ
2011: Dirk was near top 5 in the playoffs
    2010: Kobe
    2009: Kobe
    2008: Boston big 3
    2007: Duncan
    2006: Wade
    2005: Duncan
    2004: Detroit
    2003: Duncan
    2002: Shaq/Kobe
    2001: Shaq/Kobe
    2000: Shaq/Kobe

12/16 champions (can make that 13/17 for this year) have had a top 5 player in the league. Very few exceptions.

For me it isn't so much who takes the shots but how they get them. GS was moving the ball around. OKC was playing hero ball. One works, and is a joy to watch (and play); the other, not so much. You want your best players taking most of the shots, but I'd rather they get those shots by moving the ball and getting the defense on its heels. Also, it would be nice if we had three best players to take them. Seems like KD's work would be much easier, too.

    Agreed.

It would be magical. And I would be confident he'd be coming here for the right reasons.

The Thunder were killing the Warriors in the first half running pick and rolls. Once they got away from that and started doing one-on-one stuff, the game was over. Durant made it interesting with some great one-on-one plays, but I never felt that the Thunder were going to win with that style of play.

I'm new to this thread, so somebody else might've taken this stance already, but I have an answer to the question that is nuanced but definitive. And the answer is: "No. There is not."

So Derrick Rose didn't post a picture of Durant in a Blazers uniform and assert his undying fandom?

For a minute there, I thought we were getting both.

Guess we'll have to settle for Durant and Howard. They'll probably agree to split the $23 million we have available for next season, and cash in the year after.

    It's all good.

None of these teams had a current top 5 player other than LeBron in 2012 and 2013, unless you go all the way back to maybe Duncan in 2005 and maybe 2007. Kobe was top five in the early 2000's but already an aging gimp by 2009. Dirk and Wade were never top 5 at any point in their careers.

Kobe put up 27/5/5 and even won his only MVP in 2008. Not a top 5?

Dirk won MVP in 07 and returned to that level in the playoffs when he won the title in 11.

DWade is obvious, man. Stuff you're saying is not even debatable.
