Just got cleared to play. He's kind of like Meyers except with way better measurables.

I don't see the downside. Cut Connaughton.

If I remember correctly, he hid the fact that he has a glass eye.

NBA teams probably can't buy insurance on him.

Edit: and which GM wants to risk the guy's life?

This dude would inspire a locker room and you know he would play with a passion nearly unmatched if he got a shot in the NBA. He is very athletic for a 7 footer and could be a good NBA rim protector. If we have the opportunity we have to take a chance on this kid. Chances are one of him or Ezeli pans out and gives us what we need.

Yeah, I mentioned that back when this thread was created almost two and a half years ago.

So what happened? Did they find a cure for Marfan's Syndrome? Was he misdiagnosed? When this first came out his doctor told him he should never play basketball again, even a casual pick up game could kill him. Now he's been cleared to play in the NBA?

Hank Gathers. And don't forget Reggie Lewis.

I wondered the same. Daryl Morey wasted a #16 pick on Royce White, so he'll be the one who signs Austin.

Neither Gathers nor Lewis died of Marfan's Syndrome. They both died of cardiomyopathy, Both had also previously collapsed a few months prior to their deaths. Gathers had collapsed on December 9th, was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and prescribed propranolol, which he stopped taking prior to his death on March 4, because he said it made him feel sluggish. Lewis collapsed during the first quarter of their opening round playoff game on April 29 and then died three months later on July 27th during a pick up game.

Marfan's Syndrome is a completely different condition. It's a thinning of the wall of the aorta that causes the aorta to burst resulting in instantaneous death.

Straw man as usual. Please show me where I said that Gathers or Lewis died of Marfans.

    Really? You did it twice:

Neither Gathers, nor Lewis died of a burst aorta (Marfan's Syndrome). Both died of cardiomyopathy, damaged heart muscle (in simple terms). They died of heart failure, not a ruptured aorta.

You didn't remember who you were thinking of, so I suggested Hank Gathers as a possibility. So you made a Federal case about my attempt at help being an impossible choice. Okay, do you remember yet who you were thinking of?

No, but I knew it wasn't Hank Gathers both times you suggested it was.
