I listen to free internet telecasts, which usually use the opposing team's broadcast, so I hear a lot of the competition. Rice & Barrett were better in about 80-90% of the games. I'd rank Mike & Mike A- and Calabro A+.

It's sentimental to replace a mellow Northwest jazz tenor with a ferocious opera baritone, but I like change. When I listened to Calabro for 28 years, I found that somehow his informal mania compensates for his macho tuba hairy chest sound.

This is kinda where I have been coming from. Calabro is better. I'm not sure anyone would argue that. My issue is that the guys he and his partner are replacing were really good as well.

Someone put it to me this way. When we had Drexler, would we have traded him for Jordon even though Drexler was very good and Top-50 all time?

Oh, I get the argument, but we are talking about personalities, not players. Better example to me would be firing the Schonz in his primish and hiring Chick Hearn.

I'd have fired Shonz....he was from Seattle.

I mde it up. It basically means "a penchant for hyperbolizing to counter a point"

In your case, it's meant as a compliment.

I liked Schonz, but admitting that Chick Hearn was a better play by play man does not take away from my appreciation for Schonz.

Speaking with my previous source again, it sounds like the two names he has heard the most for the color job are PJ and Mychal Thompson. I hope to god we don't have to hear PJ's voice for 82 games a year, I've heard good things about Thompson though.

I keep hearing PJ's name from someone that would know. He, nor I, believe the Blazers will hire a 67 year old analyst. We both think they want someone with experience, but not someone who will probably need to step down in a couple of years

Yeah, I'd like someone other than PJ as well. Someone younger and more of a contrast to Calabro like Abby Chin coming back here from Boston.

She's nice to look at, but I have no clue what her background is. Does she have the basketball knowledge to be an analyst?

I'd just point out that there's another local talent that's younger and more of a contrast to Calabro...

"Calabro and Canzano" has a certain ring to it. :evilfire:

One darkhorse he did mention was the possiblity of Steve Blake. He recently purchased Lillard's old house/condo and has moved back with his family. It's sounding like he is likely retiring...but I have no clue if he has any interest or experience really. Just another name that was thrown out there he had heard some small talk about.
