I think that it's entirely likely that he'll give the team up until the All-Star break to see if they can turn it around like last year.
I would agree with that being very much the impression I'm getting from talking to a number of different people. It seems we will have to wait until this summer for something more substantial. For example, what does a team like Philly have in terms of a rush to do something now versus this summer? They aren't in a Playoff race so whether they do something now or later doesn't really make a difference.
Noel will become a RFA this summer. If they are not certain - they will wait until the summer, but if they are certain they do not like to keep him for a large amount - it makes sense to try and move him now. I honestly have no idea what their thinking is - but I can see a reason for them to try and deal him soon.
Exactly right. That would be a reason for an individual player like him. He is Embiid's best friend so I think they are trying to figure out if there is any way that would work and they move Okafor instead.
I doubt Neil would allow a deal get to TBPup's ears, guys. Saying that Neil has made inquiries is not news. Almost every team is making inquiries at this time of the year. Even the top teams (Korver trade).
Without naming names, TBPup does have a source of info, and has for years. At one time, that source had very good connections within the Blazers organization. I do not believe the Blazers connection is true anymore, however, the source still has connections to player agents, and possibly to other teams. Not sure about the last part but pretty sure on the agent part.
^^^^ @KingSpeed, doubting hater...lol. Now worries. I get that the details are few slim. The sources on this have been very reliable in the past and I have no reason to doubt them now. As mentioned, very little comes from Portland anymore but other teams may not be so tight and having some acquaintances with a few agents over the years hasn't hurt. I've only been on here a couple of years but on a previous board, a buddy of mine and I had dead on information that sometimes we could hint at and sometimes couldn't say a word. We went to a Draft Party on year and a couple of the local newspaper blog guys came over to our table because we were posting stuff ahead of time that came out completely true faster than they were even getting rumors. Good times. Wish you could have joined us for those.
The Afflalo trade was a fantastic move when it was made. Wes' Achilles tendon exploding made it turn out not so good.
One year, there was a kid on another board that went through and created a 30-team trade that actually had some merit for almost every team listed. Must not have had homework that day.
The Afflalo trade shall enter Blazer Lore like the Kemp Trade or The Oden Draft. Factions form. Fights break out. "Will Barton!" someone yells.
I saw a video this weekend( Ill look for the link and post it) Of the craziest trade ever. It was us trading our marketing services to another team for a player back in 83'. Crazy story. I had no clue anything was tradable. Can we trade Stotts and Plums for Whiteside and Spolstra? Also, the marketing guy was Spolstra's father who worked for us.
The video below is crazy awesome. And technically I think yes we could (with filler salaries added). The Clippers traded a pick or two to the Celtics for their coach. That doesn't mean MIA would be interested of course. LOL
