I don't read twitter or any other social media for that matter. (Is this place 'social media'?) I'm not surprised it can be a cesspool. Look what that shit's done to politics.
For the record I'm never comparing Calabro and Hurd to national TV guys again. My god tonight was an eye opener in that regard
Yeah, these TNT announcers are AWFUL. Regardless of how you feel they stack up against M&M, C&H are more professional, not as biased, and just plain better than these yahoos. Reggie Miller is one of the worst.
I agree almost 100% I DID like how Reggie kept it real and made it clear that CP was pushing off and the ref got it wrong when AMinu was called for his third. Reggie said point blank, they got it wrong and we need more ofthat because the refs last night????? Worst reffed game Ive ever seen.
The officiating in that game was at times amazingly bad. Stunningly bad. Horrifically bad. Not the worst officiated game I've ever seen, by any means, but certainly one of the worst officiating crews. It wasn't like some of the crooked officiating crews we've all seen before, that were just wall to wall unethical. They were just incompetent. But yeah, I'll take Calabro and Hurd 100/100 over those TNT asshats. God I hate Reggie Miller.
Decent sample size now. How does everyone feel about Calabro and Hurd? Since I have to watch most games on league pass, I don't find myself disappointed when the Blazers announcing team isn't on. Maybe just me, but I really enjoyed the "goofiness" or whatever. Calabro is obviously fine, but Hurd offers nothing to my viewing pleasure.
Calabro is starting to bug me now. He's a nerd. An old nerd. Hurd is a young nerd that sounds hip. They're a couple of nerds lol. In reference to, I think it was Harkless setting his feet prior to taking a three, Calabro said "Harkless set his tootsies" - really? Tootsies? And last night after one of our players hit a jumper he said "Nailed the Jimmy." Ugh. Hurd is actually getting better and I think Calabro's style is just TOO old school for me. But I am getting used to them a little more each game. Ultimately it's kind of trivial at this point all things considered.
I'm going to bump this again. I'm starting not to mind Calabro and Hurd as much. Calabro finally seems to be figuring out which players are Blazers and what their names are. Hurd still forces the funny sometimes, but I don't really have an issue with him. Regarding the broadcasts themselves, it's become really obvious that there's been an intentional dialing down of the questioning the calls of the officials. I suspect that was a part of the heartburn the league and Blazers management had with Mike and Mike. I think it's probably an improvement, but it really pisses me off when they don't show a replay of some of the more critical calls. I sure as hell would have liked to have seen a replay of Dame's "foul" in the last 0.5 that handed the game to the Grizzlies. I read Dame's take on it in the paper this morning, but it would have been nice to have seen a replay. There were other plays as well that I would like to have looked at more closely. Yeah, you don't want to make the refs the story, but there's a missing balance when big calls are just ignored. On a related note, what the heck is up with the voice-video synch on the CSN broadcasts? The commercials are all a beat behind on synching them up. Is that a Blazers broadcasting issue or something with CSN?
