That was controversial as well, but I believe it was independently distributed, not a major studio feature film to be released everywhere. You just can't expect to make a movie like this and not face some sort of backlash. Its inflammatory hate speech against North Korea. Not saying they shouldn't have the right to make it, but they shouldn't act shocked when Sony got owned as hard as they did.
It's just not the same as a Hollywood, A list, star-studded, worldwide release of a movie about assassinating a living foreign head of state. It sounds funny at first blush, but a tad of analysis -- especially of the country in question -- should have quashed this after the pitch meeting.
