...lol...great minds, I said the same thing. I mean, if his shoulder is hurt he likely won't be pitching at all, much less in the BP....I also think it's funny that all of the stipulations are directed to his shoulder only...does not address the elbow or any other type of injury.

...and the funny thing is, Cashman probably thought he actually somehow protected the team's investment by having that addendum included in the contract. It's for uber-slick thinking like that which likely prompted the Steins to give him 3 more years.

Yup, everything related to a left shoulder injury. Who in the hell is the Yankee lawyer who read that one over?

What is going on with the Big Donkey may be a lesson to learn for the Dodgers if they are following. I see Greinke may pull that opt out clause crap as well. Also noted that Smardjiza was mentioned in that River Avenue Blues Article. The man did not do that well for Oakland, nor for the White Sox for whom he allegedly wanted to be with. It would not surprise if idiot stick pulled off a trade sending Warren away for some broken down nag to be another Team Clown. Fuck the Steins for extending that assholes contract and sympathy to fellow Yankee Fans who have watched this team fail because of Cashmans poor acquisitions. As the old Hank Williams line went "the hide's getting scace:.

Gutless move. The management is treating
Yankee tradition like bush league mentality.
Their moves are losing the true fan base.

What I find amazing is that we're not hearing ANYTHING from Girardi. I'd love to know what his feelings are.

...I don't know how he can say anything without throwing Cashman under the bus. The GM and coach don't usually make their real feeling made public.

    ...then again, I read this earlier;

"Welcome to another episode of "The O.C.," in which Los Angeles Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto and manager Mike Scioscia are not getting along. That's the word on the street from Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports, who has details about Scioscia's coaching staff openly defying Dipoto's front office -- with slugger Albert Pujols siding with the coaches and against management with a "pointed rebuke."

It actually sounds kind of dramatic -- though you have to wonder how often this kind of thing happens and we don't hear about it. Perhaps not frequently, but more than once a year on more than just one team? There are a lot of egos in place on these teams. Anyway, here's what Rosenthal alleges that nobody will back up on the record:

Dipoto, according to sources, believes that the coaches too often rely on “feel” while teams such as the AL West-leading Astros are at the forefront of incorporating data. The coaches, in turn, seemingly do not trust the information they are given, and either are not willing or able to translate it for the players.

    And to that end:

    • Dipoto met with Scioscia and his coaching staff on Friday, and the exchange turned contentious when the GM asked the coaches to better communicate to the players scouting reports and statistical information provided by the front office.
    • In a separate meeting with the players, coaches and Scioscia on Sunday, Dipoto informed the players that they would now be given the information directly by the front office; they then could decide whether or not to use it.

That meeting, Scioscia told reporters, “was just scouting information, scouting reports ... We're just getting reports to guys a little bit differently than we had before."

    • Pujols challenged Dipoto during that second gathering, saying that the coaches are working as hard to prepare the players as they did last season, but that the roster is not as strong as it was a year ago."

For the 1st time I'm beginning to see why Greinke would ever want to opt out of his contract, I didn't get it 'til this last June.......in 9 starts, prior to his last one, The Bums had only 13 Runs to show for Greinke's masterful 1.70 ERA, now lower after His last game........

If the Bums can't go to or win a NLCS, I think we may of seen the last of Zach in LA. He has a stipulation as well, to ensure he stays in the NL too. Many have said its cuz he likes hitting, and he is no slouch with a bat, one of the better Pitchers for hitting; this year and those past with His Bat. Hell already this year, I've seen Greinke get the 1st hit in a game, or drive in the 1st run, then get on base himself, and score the winning runs.......time and time again, Zack has been effective lately in trying to win the games on His own alone, with arm and bat.......

I bet Frisco, St. Louis, even perhaps the Cubs and/or Padres, might be teams Greike may be interested in, IMO, whomever wins the NLCS, is the way Zack will lean, imagine the Nats with Greinke, amongst all the other SP's on the Team. Such a move would make the Nats so over laden heavy with great SP's........unlike any NL team, IMO, since the golden years.........

    I can't recall any pitcher whose had a better year with a bat, than Greinke's 3.28 B'Avg for 2013........!!!
