This is the order of events as I saw them: 1. They shut down political OT threads without warning or consultation. 2. Complaints in threads resulted in deleted/locked threads. 3. ABM sent out a PM to people saying that Sportstwo.com would be an alternative place to discuss basketball and other stuff 4. ABM sent it out to many Blazers regulars and included others, including an admin from the site 5. ABM was banned 6. maxiep continued to complain and was continued to be shut down by Community Mods who (a) didn't know anything about the Blazers community, and (b) were acting like the relative children that they are 7. maxiep made a statement (or four) about Kobe and was banned by a CM, who was a Lakers fan 8. Several of us indicated that BBF was going to drive the Blazers' fans away through piss-poor communication and entirely snobby/out-of-touch moderation 9. Some people left BBF, some people planned on waiting and seeing 10. S2 is superior from a technical perspective and had more lax rules, which seem to fit the style of many of us better 11. Eventually everyone landed here. mgb moderates there and posts here. sa177 is still a CM over there and I dunno if he's here. BBF Blazers board is a ghost town and, given the Blazers board had about as many posts as all the other Western Conference teams combined when we left, I would imagine the board as a whole has taken a significant dip. The only thing I'd add to your list, Ed, is that some of the moderators arguing the administration side of things turned insulting and dismissive. For a lot of the wait-and-see people (me included) that was the turning point. I always felt there were two legitimate sides to the issue, but when the side tasked with resolving problems starts saying, "Fuck you whiners. If you don't like it, leave," leaving seems like the correct course of action. Obviously, all the moderators weren't doing that and also there were people on the "Blazers community" side that turned aggressive, but ultimately I felt the administration side of things went nuclear first.
I tend to have a problem with people who take power too seriously. They should have let their blazer mods take care of it, but they brought in guys like Rawse (Cinco De Mayo) and Basel, so things spun out of control. The internet is bad enough with people trying to act tough, but that was ridiculous.
then they said it didnt matter if we stayed or left - so everyone left. it had been shit since VS took over anyways.. BBB.net was way better from a fan point of view. still, when you mix shitty advertising with shitty patronizing mods you're bound to run into issues at some point - the thing is there were many other places to talk blazer ball and it is the posters that matter really, not the forum - something they never realised....
Mods dared us to leave . . . so we did. Almost a Darius type situation . . . only on the internet forum level.
I might be wrong but I believe he started several different THREADS specifically about bashing Kobe in frivolous/old ways
You support a rapist. Conversely there were almost no Blazer fans who ever supported Ruben Patterson. It's your choice to continue to root for that piece of human flotsam. And I started different threads because they kept getting deleted. I was told I couldn't post about politics, so I chose another subject. You keep on supporting your Kobe-loving buddy, though.
I'm not going to tell you anything, but I'd think that everyone who wanted to leave has left. There's nothing to go back for except trouble now. -Petey
I beg to differ. There was an unusually high % of Blazer fans who supported Ruben. I'm not sure why, but there was.
Then you know some odd people, because among people I knew and interacted with, there was zero support for Ruben Patterson. In fact, I knew people who called the trade deadline "Trade Ruben Day" which simply became "TRD". When we finally dumped his maggoty ass on Denver, there was much celebrating throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Its not a blazer forum anymore anyway. The majority of the fans and mods that post there now are fans of other teams. .Its less of a blazer forum and more of a place where people who like other teams come to piss on the blazers and the blazer community.
Good observation. I go there to check it out now and then (give some support to mgb) . . . you're description is accurate. I didn't think about it that way, I just found myself going there less and less . . . now I know why.
