J.J. Hickson making a name for himself ... just don't label him a hustle player

JJ's play makes passing on Faried much easier to swallow. I wished Portland had offered him more years, but I believe they had a plan in play to go after James Harden. With how well Hickson is playing now, we'll probably be spending all our money to resign him + a few backups. Ronnie Price is almost unbearable to watch....we so need a backup PG.

I'm perfectly okay with this plan: Hickson as our big FA acquisition (like Batum last year), resign Babbitt (he's coming into his own now as a 10/5 player) and get us: a backup combo guard. Though I guess Williams might be that guard, I'd rather have a couple vets with decent PERs.

Me too. I think a lot of teams keep changing things up and lose out on the chemistry of growing together. I think Stotts will get better and better with finding a system that works to the advantage of all current players.

Why? We didn't pass on Fareid to get Smith, we passed on him to get Felton. Smith was drafted as someone who could eventually develop into a shooting PG to play next to Brandon, not as someone who was ready to step in as a second-string SG alongside Felton or an out-of-position Crawford.

I think it's even more important to note, with our history of injuries, that JJ has proven he can play almost the exact role of LMA incase LMA goes down for a stretch of games which is something I don't think Faried can do. We wouldn't have to renovate our offense on the fly. This is true even within games when LMA goes to the bench.

Also, if Leonard continues to develop (like that monster move yesterday) then JJ can be backup to both of them easily.

Plus his defense isn't all that bad. I know his advanced stats say so, but I always see him try as hard as possible and he doesn't make mental lapses in assignments any more often than other people. I rarely see anyone try to feed the man JJ is defending (there's not that many offensive Cs anymore), and hell I recall him putting up a damn good battle against Duncan the other week.

amazing that we tried to give hibbert a max contract and hickson currently has a PER higher than hibbert ever has (and 7.5 pts higher this year 21 vs. 14.5).

hickson is going to be expensive to keep. if he keeps playing at or near current level possibly near max.

Why is Babbitt in this thread? He can't make shots after the 1st half. Let him go.
