I guess this year Dame and CJ feels the same way because there not much better then Parker defense ratings. Matter fact Dame and CJ last year was in the 104 and this year 109's that about 5 point drop off.
Yes it is on Parker and a lot of our guys also. Most our players have drop in our defense rating from last year. It could be a lot of reasons though. It could the new the rule or we not lock like we was last year.
I haven't looked at any stats, but it wouldn't surprise if many players and teams are off pace from last years defensive ratings as scoring is up pretty much across the board. A quick look at points per team there are 16 teams averaging 110 points or more where as last year there were only 6. Defensive ratings are also very difficult as there are many factors in defense that sometimes stats can't quantify.
Actually I don't think it would make much difference as many of these threads are a mile long with 2/3 of a mile of garbage intermixed making it difficult to follow or spend and hour reading through a boring thread. I wish threads would be cut off after a certain time and then if people want to bring a topic back up then it is fresh without 100's of posts to wade through. I have never really liked this format all that well as posts can get buried rather quickly where as on OL it was more like a running dialogue as if guys were sitting around a table discussing basketball in a bar. It amazes me how many threads get so easily derailed in the forum.
The Jazz have interest. The last thing that I want them to add is a scoring punch Playoff teams are looking to get better. Olshey sits on his thumbs, "earning" $3m annually.
I don't get using a team that is doing poorly as an example of why Olshey doing nothing is proof he sucks. The Jazz are 14-16 so these moves that "playoff teams are looking to get better" by making aren't actually making them better.
The point is they’re proactive. Portland isn’t in a much better position, hovering around the 8th seed. I’d actually argue Portland is worse, because they’ve had more continuity than most other teams, yet still haven’t made any sort of jump. They look like the same inconsistent team they’ve been for the last couple of years, yet no inclination that any sort of change is on the horizon. Yes yes. Olshey doesn’t let anything leak. He’s so secretive that he avoids moves all together.
I get all that, it's just weird that I think a majority of people are against bringing in Parker as anything more than a salary dump yet here we have someone praising Utah for being rumored to be interested in that same player.
Jabari isn’t useless. He just didn’t work out in Chicago. They tried playing him at SF. They have enough PFs. Utah has enough defenders to mask his deficiencies. They could use a scorer. Good for them if they get him, I think it would make them better. I wish I could say with certainty that we also have a franchise invested in putting the best product on the court. The past year + has made me cynical that we do.
Confession: part of why I am so anti-Parker is the fear that Olshey will decide to pick up his option....and then give him an extension.....
I guess it depends on how he plays for us. I would hope his option wouldn't get picked up but if he plays well then we wouldn't have any bird rights so keeping him would be difficult without picking up the option.
I think they were playing him at PF with Markkanen and Portis out, weren't they? Someone posted stats in here and they were for him playing PF and they were really bad.
The initial plan when they signed him was to play him at SF. That obviously was a shit plan but injuries allowed him to play PF. Now that those two are on the mend, there really is no spot for Parker.
I really don't understand how GarPax still have jobs. Why sign Jabari to $20 million after you spent back-to-back #7 picks on bigs? If their plan was to play him all along at SF then they are even more dumb.
They are dumb. Which is why they should give us Parker for one or two of our shit contracts and a pick.
