This is gonna end with Parker getting bought out. At that point, why not? Bench is desperate for a scorer.

    Would Neil waive Caleb? Wade?

Interesting thought. Many fans assume a big expiring deal is a useful trade chip. Parker is proving that value is exagerated.

If he is bought out, I wonder what his priority will be? Ring chasing, or finding a team where he can make a big splash and try to rebuild his reputation?

Probably Wade, since Swanigan is guaranteed for next year. But maybe they make a trade that clears out a spot.

Jabari is a lot more interesting than Melo as a buyout candidate to me.

Probably B. He’s still young and needs to reestablish some value. Olsheys relationship with his agent will help. Bartlestein knows Portland’s culture, and there is an opening for Parker to grab a pretty significant role, even if it’s off the bench. On a team that’s also in the playoff hunt, that’s appealing.

A low risk move for both sides. I like it.

    Curry
    Turner
    Layman
    Parker
    Collins

I can get with this. We can hide one bad defender, especially on a second unit.

Edit: three of those guys are repped by Bartlestein lolol.

To expand on this, Bartlestein also represents Baldwin. Not sure what his stance on Portland cutting Baldwin would be. On one hand Baldwin’s contract is guaranteed and he could go elsewhere and maybe get playing time. On the other hand, getting cut twice within your first three years in the league isn’t the greatest look.

I'd keep Wade over Caleb, even given the contract.

Speaking of Wade, if Turner continues to shit the bed, I’d make a temporary swap with Baldwin. I know Baldwin hasn’t done shit this year, but to be fair, his minutes have come in either garbage time or off the ball. He hasn’t been given a chance in the rotation playing his natural position.

It depends on what you are looking for. In this case the Bulls don't want to take on a bad contract which completely devalues the expiring contract. The Rockets would give up a 1st round pick for Parker if they took Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss. Portland I'd imagine might do the same for Evan Turner and a 1st rounder.

I've been saying this for over a month. Worst case scenario Baldwin plays like crap too and we can cut him if we need a roster spot. Best case scenario he provides good defense and runs the 2nd unit well enough to either factor into our long term plans or increases his trade value. Right now he's being wasted.

I’d also swap out Stauskas for Layman.

That’d give us a pretty balanced second unit, imo.

    Baldwin
    Curry
    Layman
    Collins
    Leonard

At least try it out. But nope, instead we’re gonna keep running the same combination of guys out there no matter how much they kill us. Continuity baby!!

Maybe they're playing ET ( and to an extent, Leonard) every night to try to increase value?

There’s no way imo that Turners value isn’t already established, whatever it may be. He’s playing because he’s making $17 million. If he wasn’t, the second unit wouldn’t have been built around him, and he’d probably be sitting on the bench by now.

    Leonard though? Yeah maybe.
