On top of that, it would really hamper driving lanes for Lillard

No. Also get Thibideau to teach the TEAM how to play defense.
There isn't a player in the league that can't play defense. But there are a TON who don't play defense. The fact that they don't play defense is the coach's fault. But any player can become a good defender, all it takes is a good coach who will hold his players accountable.

Yup. Plus, who would run the pick and pop with Dame in that scenario?

Maybe we can hire Monty Willims to come in to be our Defensive Coorfinator...

Monroe is slow and unathletic. You need good defenders to play good team defense and he's terrible. That's like saying it doesn't matter if you get good offensive players, because anyone can become a good scorer if the coach holds them accountable..

Not the same at all. No matter how much you teach, or hold players accountable, some just do not possess the skill/coordination to be a good offensive player. But every player has the ability to be a good defensive player - they just need a good defensive system to work within and a coach who won't put up with players who won't put in the effort to execute the defensive plan.

Who cares if Monroe isn't super athletic? LA is and we never see him doing super athletic moves anymore.

Yeah... LA is most definitely not Rasheed when it comes to athleticism.

Athleticism: the most overrated quality a basketball player can possess.

Well I've only seen a handful of players that have that level.

Lebron still has the skill on top of the athleticism though. Remember Travis Outlaw? My thing is this results are what matter. If a dude needs to be athletic, fine if he is fundamental fine, as long as he gets the job done, and it goes both ways, see Adam Morrison.

I don't think Outlaw is a good example. Outlaw was a freak athlete, but he was also dumb as a box of rocks. That's not an exaggeration. When I think of someone who is a freak athlete, but never really put the work in to harness that talent, I think of Darius Miles. I think he is a perfect example of someone with all the athletic gifts you can have, but none of the desire. He floated through his career and never really lived up to the expectations.

The Nic-and-Monroe would outdo the Nic-and-Rolo. Sweet.
