"Because the Devils missed the playoffs, despite their second half turnaround, Jacques Lemaire probably does not deserve to win his third Jack Adams Award for NHL Coach of the Year.

However, Lemaire was left completely off the list of three finalists for the award which is voted upon by the NHL Broadcasters' Association.

The three finalists, announced today by the NHL, are Dan Bylsma of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Barry Trotz of the Nashville Predators and Alain Vigneault of the Vancouver Canucks.

Lemaire took over the 9-22-2 Devils on Dec. 23, replacing John MacLean as head coach. The team finished 29-17-3 under Lemaire and came as close as six points from a playoff spot. "
