There's a good chance he didn't write that headline. I have an editor who creates all of my headlines for my columns (many of which I really don't like.) And let me just say, I don't get all of the Quick hate. Canzano yes is a grandstander who thinks he is the subject of every story, but Jason seems to me to be a hard working, decent reporter.
Quick is WAY worse than Canzano. I believe Quick invents things and makes himself a part of the story. He's absolutely horrible and atrocious. While Canzano likes to stir up controversy, I believe Jason Quick has a vendetta against the Portland Trailblazers for some reason and salivates at their self-destruction.
Yeah, typically it's an editor writing the headlines. They might ask for a suggested headline. A lot of papers are moving toward a universal copy desk, so the person who laid out this page out and wrote the headline might not even have a clue who LaMarcus Aldridge is.
Oregonian has been making cutbacks. Looks like proof reading was one of those. Still waiting for Canzano to go.
It's one thing for a type to be in the article, but the lead headline on the front of the sports page? Embarrassing.
Meh. I still hold a very old grudge against Quick from the $amon / Sheed years, and his inability to write facts about the actual game without making up melodrama about the players. Maybe he's changed, IDK, I don't read him anymore. As for Canzano, there aren't enough expletives on an air craft carrier to express my hatred.
"I was going to re-sign this summer but when the local paper can't even spell my name right I said fuck it, I'm out of here."
Which is why we never sign players with difficult names anymore...I blame Mike Rice...it hurts everytime he calls Gasol..Kuhsall
With a big ol grinning Jason Quick right under it. Way Too funny. The very guy that reported it was 50/50 he was leaving...
