I'll point out that Quick was right about Batum in the thread I posted from BBF, and this was only a few days after the draft, when most of us thought Batum was a Euro project.
Not sure how that threads says anything about anyone (celt that Ed O apparently looks like Jack Black).
I thought he had stepped down as a beat writer a long time ago. I haven't really paid much attention to the O, but I thought he hadn't been doing game recaps for a season or two.
Quick's job got much harder when Pritchard left. That's why the paper's mad about it. Quick saying he'll name all sources is an upbraid to Canzano, who reacted instantly in his inimitable style. If this becomes a competition, Cancer will lose, and he's worried. Also, PapaG will have to split hairs even more when he defends Canzano.
Like the time Quick agreed to not peek thru the blinds at a workout and then made it a point to when left to himself? Yeah, gotta love those shennanigans.
I don't really have an issue with Quick one way or another. At times I thought he made his stories far too much about him and his "feelings" and most of the rest of the time he did a nice job with features like his "Behind the Locker Room Door" stuff. I did get the feeling that the beat had worn on him and had made it difficult to remain objective, so moving to a columnist's role probably makes sense.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was requested to be removed as a beat writer when he crossed the line earlier in the season and wrote that "columnist" story telling Rudy his problem could be solved for $2.39 at a local Fred Meyer's by getting some Kleenex and to quit acting like a baby. I wasn't sure if he would be able to gain back the trust of the team after crossing the line, and I'm guessing they just let him finish out the season.
I always thought Quick was a columnist masquerading as a reporter, clear back to the $amon days. He's pretty good at writing melodrama, and given the choice between Quick and that douche bag Clownzano, I'll take Jason Quick every single time.
Yeah, for sure. I have my differences with Quick, but compared to Canzano, Quick's the very definition of fine journalism. barfo
I can see how incredible taxing it would get to spend large chunks of your day following and discussing the Trail Blazers - and be paid for it. Oh the horror.
I'm guessing it's the travel during the season that's the biggest bitch. But I mean, who wouldn't love to spend some cold February nights in Cleveland, Minneapolis, OKC and/or Milwaukee.
