I will admit, like myself he will comment on things more culturally, not racially. Nic and Rudy had talked to us once out for dinner about the hatred between the two countries. I can vouch, he has no hatred towards anybody though.
I think my best racial crack was when we were playing the Wolves about 4 years ago and they only had 1 black guy on the court and I screamed that they were playing their HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH squad!
Portland used to run a D-League affiliate team called the Stempede in Boise, ID. We had an arrangement for coach Mike Peck to run our exact system so that players could know plays if they were sent down to work on game. I'd look for him to be a candidate for Asst. Coach. No inside info, just know the opportunity exists for reconnection. http://www.santaclarabroncos.com/sports/m-baskbl/2014-15/releases/20150728vthu4b
That 'connection' did not really work out well. That only lasted 1 year, and then Portland severed the relationship last summer. The Stampede were sold to the Jazz, and will now be playing in Utah starting next year.
Didn't Peck coach the Stampede 2 years? Nevertheless, he wasn't good enough to be our assistant coach. He was a high school coach right before coaching the Stampede.
There have been so many coaching changes that there will be a huge pool of available assistant coaches to choose from. Stotts probably knows them all. When it comes to picking a staff I think he's ahead of the curve. I see Tibbetts as the lead assistant now and wouldn't be surprised to see Kaman take Kim Hughes old job. I'd talk to Monty Williams at least
Seems like we should promote a video guy to assistant coach, like we did with Kanales. Now, what video guys do we have available? barfo
Yim warms up Dame and CJ pregame from around 5-5:15 , but those two do their main pregame routine with Coach Vanterpool
If you would have gone to any of the practice facility tours you would know exactly what Hawkins does and why it's a very important position. http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/09/trail_blazers_name_hersey_hawk.html
