Keeping it in-house. It's nice seeing our organization give guys opportunities for advancement. Congrats!
I actually think he is a possibility but they probably have to hold off till the season is officially concluded since he is still an "active" player.
I'd rather see new blood coming in. Look at Oregon Ducks; brought in Chip Kelly a few years ago, now Brady Hoke. Big-time coaches with new ideas.
I'd say the Ducks are maybe the worst example of that. They only bring in new blood when it's cheap and refuse to fire anybody even when they fail spectacularly. (See Don Pellum) The Ducks have coaches with basically a lifetime contracts who've been there since Reagan was president. There's a reason Oregon is one of the worst recruiting football programs (for their acclaim) in the country. A better example I'd probably Dana Altman, the Ducks baskedball coach. His hiring was completely out of left field. Someone not related to the program who brought in his own coaches from as far away as Canada. They instituted a system that works and can get the talent to play in it. The Ducks football team are a Nike funded whale with a gimmicky offense.
So they have shitty football coaches who can't recruit........I have never really understood why people continually spout off about Nike funding the Ducks....if Oregon never lands the best recruiting classes in the conference....let alone the country. Why do people even care about it? Somehow it just eats away at people, even though most top schools have been heavily funded by their alums for a hell of lot longer than Oregon. Although I doubt they are really "one of the worst recruiting football programs on earth".........when they land one of the top 25 classes most years. Nor do I really understand the logic in your "Gimmick offense" theory when the majority of college teams are ALL running the exact same hurry up spread offense.
They actually did a pretty decent job under Belotti and Kelly. It's only the last couple of years under Helfrich that they've really gone down the shitter. It doesn't really bug me since I'm more into College BB. But what does bug me is locals constantly trotting out the same old excuses again and again. They honestly refuse to believe the problem could be in-house and not due to location and weather.
Man this is a great front office who takes care of their own. Will be an absolute shame if we can't attract a big name this summer (I think we can, and will!) since we are so close to being legitimate contenders. Dame is real AF, Terry real AF, Olshey real AF. I guess if those around the league don't realize this then maybe they shouldn't be here in the first place. If I were an agent of a big name client I would definitely be looking at opportunities for my client in Portland...And I try to say that with as unbiased an opinion as possible.
