If I'm reading this right, he could only practice with the team during the playoffs(?) https://2ways10days.com/nba-two-way-contracts-faq-70d1c9cbbe9 Can a two-way contract player appear in NBA playoff games? No, a two-way player cannot appear on the NBA team’s playoff roster or play in a playoff game, but he can be on the inactive list during playoffs to travel and practice with the team.
A 2 way contract player can be with an NBA team for up to 45 days. Majority of time he will be playing for the G league team he is assigned to.
Looks like French Harkless has added some size. No way he’s only 210 lbs, his official listing. Btw, I expect hoard will have his two way converted into a regular contract at some point this season. They signed him almost immediately after the draft, makes me think they would’ve targeted him in the second round had they traded back.
Yeah, but they are in Washington and with the talk of Seattle being a future expansion site it would be better to avoid that market. I'd rather see them put a team in Oregon.
Exactly. I wasn't serious about Seattle, but Vancouver (the real one, not the Canadian copy) would be nice. I agree with Eugene or Medford.
So Olshey seemed pretty high on Hoard during his media day availability. Considered him good enough to be drafted. Mentioned how he often played out of position at wake because he was their biggest player and also had an injury he was dealing with during the pre draft process that might’ve hurt his stock. Called him a “handling wing” who has a “physical profile you don’t find often in a big playmaking wing.” Said he’s been really good in workouts and they’ll have an entire year to work on his game, specifically his shot and inferred that he’ll most likely be given a standard contract for next season.
Sounds great. I haven't seen too much of Hoard overall (just summer league), but I certainly have not seen much of his "handling". I am eager to see it, but I won't really believe it until I do.
Some of his videos last year reminded me of a taller Batum, and that we before I knew he was French. Hoard is a very fluid athlete that makes everything look effortless. I hope he gets some PT. I fear both Hoard, Skal and Trent Jr. may get pushed back by too much talent/success ahead of them.
Thoughtz on Hoard? He seems to always find the ball. His rebound % is impressive, especially if he’s going to be playing small forward when he’s not needed elsewhere, and he’s also averaging over 2 steals per 36. Should be a cheap depth piece next year as I’d be surprised if he didn’t get a standard contract.
Very nice summary. I really liked the Aminu comparisons. But can he learn to shoot the trebuchet three?!
I'm a big fan of this kid. Hustle and heart give him a chance to make it. He's a little out of control at times as to be expected from an undrafted kid. All aboard the Hoard train!
