funny how a guy gets a reputation as not being a threat from outside and it sticks no matter what - shoot .371 from 3P for a year, doesn't matter.
no.. he is garbage cause he is garbage. I couldnt care less if someone is rah rah or not. Jaynes times at the MSP made me dislike him very much. I'm not questioning his sources, he obviously has more than me. But what you posted is his opinion, which is what any of us in here have as well... and I think he is garbage I like Vance, seems like a good guy. And he is from the Gorge. I even like Canzano (I think I'm in the .5% who do) and he is far from Rah Rah.
I can't believe people are actually kind of shocked that they looked as discombobulated as they did. They were trying to integrate too many players back into the rotation with too little practice time together and their debut came against one of the most athletic opportunistic teams in the league. Of course there are going to be some kinks to be worked out, of course they didn't look in sync. I'd say give it a week or two before making any kinds of judgements about whether or not it can work.
Wallace isn't the best outside shooter, but he's not terrible either. What Portland needs to do is install an offense that takes advantage of the players we have. Batum, Roy, Miller, Wallace, Matthews, Rudy are all good at slashing. While they can all shoot somewhat, all of them are very good going to the basket. Instead of the constant clear outs and ISO's the team might be better off running cutters off back screens and runing cutters off top screens to get the defense moving around. That might cause the double teams to be less effective and maybe, just maybe, allow for some layups within the offense
Listening To Jaynes and Tone on Talking Ball last night and it's apparent: Jaynes is Short Sided. Tone can see past 1 game. I'll take Antonio's opinion Anyday, over dwight's
very fitting that mixum is a jaynes fan... it was one game. we still make the playoffs, and it wont be long at all until all the players are in a rhythm with the new rotation. roster wont be unbalanced for long when we pick up another center (or make that adjustment in the off season). the only real problem he points out here is roy. needs to change his mindset for the team to be successful with him. wallace is still a great trade to the long term success of the team.
I would value Tone's opinion more if uncle Paul didn't sign his paychecks. I think it will work, but there does need to be some adjustments made by both players and coaches
While I agree that it's way too soon to draw many conclusions about what will and won't work given last night's understandably disoriented showing, I do tend to agree with Jaynes that the idea of Roy/Rudy playing PG is not going to work well. Patty, or TJ Ford assuming that rumor is true, is going to do a much better job of setting up the offense than using a SG out of position. Eventually, I think Rudy and Batum are going to hits in the PT department as a result.
One night your wife told me she didn't listen to a damn word you said, so I figured I would do the same?
Jaynes is right on one point: this team needs more scoring in transition. That observation is *not* based on a single game. Back when the plan was to build around Roy and Oden, you could at least make an argument for ball-control offense. The landscape has changed.
pdxtrailblazers RT @BlazerFreeman: I asked Coach Mac if he planned to start Gerald Wallace against the Rockets and he did not rule it out. 12 minutes ago via TweetDeck
