I don't know HCP...the guy's been averaging 3-4 threes a game for a few years now (in limited minutes)...I'd say he's at least on the scouting report as "someone not to leave wide open 10 times from 3"
What a bunch of crap. Outscored by 18 in the 4th. Jazz were coming off a back to back. Mike and Mike always harp on that, but it never seems to matter for either team. 18 fucking % from 3pt range to 52 fucking %. We get 17 more shots than them, and still get our asses kicked. And look at Rudy's stat line...typical 3-10 from the field...ALL 3 PT SHOTS! All Rudy does is shoot 3s...and he gets a lot of wide open looks.
We should have won that one, and would have with Roy. We have the ability to win these types of games in the future, we just have to get used to playing without Roy.
This is just one of those "failure to capitalize" games in my opinion. If our wings shoot even a so-so percentage on 3s (say 35%) this never happens.
Just finished watching. Rudy choked again. He never hits big shots in the last minute. Yes, Matthews missed everything and Batum wasn't much better, but what the fuck, Rudy?? You were so fucking open. Well, that's what we get for the game where Webster went crazy on the Jazz. Miles stuck it to us. They're closing games. We aren't. We haven't been good at closing game since Outlaw left.
We're so used to chucking it to Roy in the 4th, we didn't know what to do with it in the end. We'll adjust.
Ummm.. Did you watch the two games against OKC? Roy played in both games and he didn't close. He actually had the ball with a tied score at the end of regulation in the first one. Roy has been a good closer in the past but he always had Outlaw to help. With Roy and Outlaw, we were the best closing team in the league. Not so much anymore. Don't deny that Outlaw hit a bunch of game tying and game winning shots for us when he was here. Not saying we shouldn't have traded for Camby. That was necessary. But we lost a clutch shooter in the process and it shows.
LaMarcus needs to start taking care of the ball. 14 turnovers in the past 2 games?!?! Are you kdding me?
He's touching it more than he used to and he's under more pressure. He'll adjust. It's not a coincidence that his two worst turnover games were the ones Roy missed.
I really wish Portland could land a SG that is actually a good 3pt shooter. If their only job is to sit back and take wide open 3s, get someone who is actually a GOOD shooter and not mediocre. I actually miss Blake...he was a much better shooter than Rudy. Another great pick up would be Mo Williams.
