I guess it's fair to claim that Thibs hasn't shown much faith in his bench players. Certainly not like he did last season where there was a whole 4 or 5 different players on the court from the starters.

It's also fair to claim that Hinrich isn't the starter. Rose is.

The only actual starter Thibs hasn't played 40 minutes (that I recall) is Rip. And he's gone.

If you gave Thibodeau sodium pentothal, I believe he'd freely say that Radmanovich was a waste of a roster spot and that Forman made a mistake. Thibodeau doesn't appear to be all that high on Teague, but NBA coaches understand the deal on first-round draftees. Besides, Thibodeau has actually given Teague some important burn on a few occasions when his other PG alternatives were limited and/or pissing him off. Thibodeau had Nazr on his "pay no mind list" for a while there, but he appears to be back in good graces (or at least OK graces).

There's no doubt that there's no "Bench Mob" like last season. Thibodeau went with a true 10-man rotation last season...very unusual in today's NBA. This season, while the Bulls have 9 players who average 20+mpg, Belinelli didn't really get big minutes until Hamilton went on the shelf. I consider it an 8-man rotation that would become a 9-man rotation if/when Rose returns (Rose, Hinrich, Robinson, Belinelli or Hamilton, Deng, Butler, Boozer, Gibson and Noah).

If the Bulls had Nancy, and Sally, and Josephine on the bench, they'd be in the 8 "man" rotation, too.

Without parsing the details too much, I think Denny's overall point is true that there have been much more games when Thibs has relied almost exclusively on his starters and we are not a "deep" team like we were last year.

I always viewed the strength of our depth as coming from our frontcourt, so going from 4 to 3 guys is a huge difference. Losing your MVP point guard doesn't help either.

But to refute the point he made with me......the times we've played multiple starters 40+ minutes has almost exclusively been due to injuries. The only guys who regularly get 40 or close to it are Deng and Noah. Deng was in the 40mpg club before this season. Noah got bumped into it because of Asik's absence.
