He did. Im not saying Grant is a superstar like Dame. Im saying i think he is a quality role player and with a healthy, balanced roster he could be part of a contending team. Our contending team. But he needs to be third option i think. We need one more player better than him and then a couple more at his level. I think we pretty much agree. We cant pay him like an all star but for an anfernee simons type contract i think he is worth it for us
You want me to think of two bad signing when I think of Grant possible deal? UghA Joe is inept. I’m hoping he’s canned and a full rebuild is in effect.
I'm just telling you what I think will happen. I also think we will move both of those other guys (Ant and Nurk) sure draft picks will hold most of the value in that or those trade(s) but those signings were us doing what I think we will do with Jerami. We did and will make sure our guy is locked in by overpaying but not enough to make the contract punitive if we have to move it.
Good point brought up that Jerami is unlikely to have sat out the end of the season unless he was comfortable with a number the Blazers said would be available. I guess the only counterpoint could be if some team contacts his agent with an even larger offer or similar money but it seems like a better destination. I think Grant appears to like Portland, but he might not enjoy the winter weather, or the uncertainty of Dame's commitment here long term, or who knows what else. If Grant leaves it would be pretty devastating. Getting effectively nothing from CJ as well as having traded away the opportunity to draft Jalen Duren. Now I hear what some posters are saying in that Grant on a huge contract might be poor value. That is a more fair point if the Blazers trade Dame; as if they still want to win with him there's just no way to get a legit starting group with Grant gone.
Only if that squad has two HOF players ahead of him. Or if we have a different definition of "great".
So who isn't meh on the Blazers right now? Obviously Dame. But I don't see anyone else on Grants level. Ant is only helpful on offense. Sharpe is a few years away. Nurk has more shortcomings on offense and similar mixed bag defensively, but way more injury prone.
I see someone who just wasn't that great on defense and was pretty replaceable on offense, and who is likely to be paid a King's ransom. Show me some stats that prove that Grant was better than the league average in anything other than raw points (which was a side-effect of being fed the ball).
3pt % and being a secondary offensive creator were two important areas Grant was much better. I really liked Hart, but he had many flaws as well. I'd have kept both if I was trying to win with Dame. Both can be part of a contending 8 man rotation. Neither can be one of your two best players.
His efficiency was phenomenal half way through the year when the Blazers were trying. Show me stats that prove he's meh?
Trust me when I tell you, that the forum as a whole feels the same way after reading each and every one of your posts.
