Or the Lakers without LeBron and AD. And Pop may decide he'd rather have a lottery pick than getting a beatdown in the first round of the playoffs. Or the Pelicans could have a hot game and their opponent a crappy one. It's the NBA...anything can happen. All I'm saying is that I'm going to be a lot more confident in the Blazers' immediate future once the Pelicans are bounced from contention for the playoffs.
I haven't seen anybody dispute there's a chance the Pels make the playoffs. Just that the odds are against them
I honestly think Watford will develop into a better player than Grant, but I'm also not as down on Jerami as some others seem to be. He's proven himself as a very good role player in OKC and Denver. As long as he doesn't demand to be a primary option, I'm probably down. Giving up a lottery pick for him though...thats gonna sting.
Since its crazy, im sure you won't have much trouble telling me which player is which And these are the numbers from the whole season, not even split up to when Watford was starting. And its also his rookie year compared to Grant's 8th.
Do you think that these numbers hold up when considering that one of these guys was the number one option on his team and the first person opposing team's game planned for and the other guy played the majority of his minutes against bench players and then graduated towards the end of his season to being a part of a mash unit? Just look at the usage and then look up the minutes they played and then give it a little more context considering that Trendon was most definitely going against much weaker opponents the vast majority of his playing time and had less attention payed to him at all times. I'm not saying that Jerami Grant is an all star (I'm also not ruling out that he could be if put in the right situation) but I am saying the Jerami Grant slander in here has gotten pretty ridiculous from some. The fact is that if we acquire him he'll be our second or third option and he won't be too far off from his role he was most successful in with the Nuggets just with increased usage but still having the luxury of playing with a teammate on offense that attracts more attention than probably even Joker was when Grant played with him. So I think if it costs us the Pelicans pick then it's a very smart deal unless you think someone at that pick is a sure thing to be better than Grant during the window we're trying to capitalize on with Dame, in a role we need filled. If Keegan Murray somehow dropped that far or you have high grade for immediate impact from Jovic then that trade is dumb but otherwise I think it's pretty damn solid.
Me too. There are probably more options better than Grant that would cost a lottery pick. I like Grant with the Blazers but not at that cost.
I really like what Jarami brings, always have. Fact that he's so tight with Dame/Nurk ia big. But man am I weary after Afflalo, Powell, RoCo.
Go for Keegan Murray instead of Jerami Grant. Keegan Murray will turn out to be just what the Blazers need at PF, with play similar to Siakim in less than a season.
Buck Williams - Career 12.8 PPG, 10 RPG, .549 FG%, ORtg 112, DRtg 104, VORP 21.7 (17 seasons) Jerami Grant -- Career 11.4 PPG, 3.9 RPG, .452 FG%, ORtg 110, DRtg 110, VORP 5.7 (8 seasons) It's surprising to see how much better and more efficient Buck was in so many areas.
Also look at the numbers from age 28 on. Buck was asked to do different things when he came here. Point is more that Grant with Lillard, Nurk, Little and Simons MIGHT be a very good move.
Yes, Buck (wisely) didn't shoot them at all. Grant (unwisely) shoots too many for being a below league average shooter.....and wanting $28M/year. Of course Grant has a few things that are better....could have brought up FT shooting. But that doesn't change the massive difference in efficiency and effectiveness ratings.
Dude? 35%-38% yes he needs to shoot 3's. Anyway. Not gonna argue this. First i said MIGHT! Second i pointed out he is a piece of a team. Lillard seems to want team players.
There are a lot of 6'5" and taller players figured to go in the first round in the 2022 draft. I hope Cronin is looking at them in detail before making any trade, and looking for a good fit for the Trail Blazers, not just looking for some guy that fits the TPE that another teams wants to unload.
