i may have missed some higher salary players but that right there is 2/3's of cap, and that leaves 1/3 for 45 players

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>you are pretty confident there, we will see though we will see. Also i am not saying titans are in good shape just better shape than bucs, i expect drop-off on both teams, but tennessee has more flexibility and it has better young players, bucs are an older team</div>

Older tampa team thats funny, cause tampa has
one of the younger teams in the nfl, its something
rich mckay has stressed in tampa. sapp, brad
and mccardell are our older players who are over
30 years of age. The players you mentioned with
    there salerys brooks,lynch,rice,alstott, and barber
all have said they would restructure there contracts
for cap reasons. Will they do it? Guess we will see
its all verbal, but knowing our players and how they
love tampa and the whole atmosphere i beleive em.

Quick figures on them players numbers you mention.
add em up they are what close to 39, 40 million.
Tampas current payroll is at 79 mill, not counting
keyshawns hit at 7.5 mill, this would be 86 million.

Now if the players do take pay cuts like they have said
lets say 2 mill less between 5 of them 10 players, thats
30 million, where is it that its 80 percent from 9 players?
Thats an exageration especially when tampa isnt at
that point yet. I dont know if you included the fact that
the nfl has given all teams 2 million more to there salery
cap for 2004-2005 season. We will find out soon tho.

    HoustonChornicle writes,

Interesting article on eddie george possibly calling
it quits. and titans cap problem.

    One thing is certain:

George will not play for the Titans in 2004 under his current contract. With a cap figure of $7.3 million, including a base salary of $4.25 million, George will have to take a serious reduction if he wants to return for his ninth season.

The Titans have an unrivaled cap problem. They're projected to be about $19 million over the projected cap of approximately $79 million. Their top 11 players currently under contract take up a staggering $70 million

looks like over 90 percent from 11 players, were not so
    bad here in tampa [IMG]

i am not saying that overall age of tennessee is lower. I am saying the young players on tampa suck, they are not any good, it does no good to have BAD young players, 2nd you are assuming a lot on those deals being redone, and even if they do they will catch up to tampa in 3 years and the team will be in same situation. I think tennessee could cut 10 of those 11 players that take up cap and still win 8 to 10 games next year. if bucs keep all those players, think they will win 8 games, after super bowl and then unsuccessful run next year it is time to rebuild, if you dont it makes things worse, best thing tampa can do is start unloading older over paid vets. . . Lynch(not as good anymore) Johnson, Brad(overrated not as good as numbers look), i think they will let sapp go but if they keep him it is bad idea. Mccardell on downside of his career for sure. derrick brooks and ronde barber havent lost a step yet but will soon, if they redo those deals it will haunt them when they start to decline. Baltimore showed blueprint on what you should do after super bowl win, and then no playoff appearance. Get super young and get rid of anyone older, except super player, i.e. ray lewis and mccallister, technically jamal lewis but he was rookie anyway at start, and you can be competitive again quickly if you drag it ouy who knows

I know what you are saying but there one problem
bearsfan. 3 years from now tampa has retooled from
the nfl draft and free agency. Plenty of time to fix our
cap we are already aware of here. Thing is tampa caught
there cap problems early before they got any worse and
they can fix it now. Yes our guys said they would restructure
and like i said we will see. Alot of people say things and
do other things im aware of it. If its the case we know tampa
cant afford to keep them long. But if they come thru on
    there words then were ok.

As for the ravens way of doing things, its the same concept
that the eagles are doing. Dont make dramatic drops but
add to your losses thru the draft. Remember the nfl draft
is the reason why these teams can be compititers again.

Tampa's depth is one of the best in the nfl, tho this year
our team faced some huge holes with some key injurys.
Dwayne white (quick, tenacity of sapp coming out of college)
Dwight smith(a corner turned safty is hitting machine) ask
amani toomer or jimmy smith on monday night football.
Rice, booger, brooks will all be here as we retool. They are still
young in there 20's. Barber was a third round draft pick turned
into a starter and of course brian kelly, our best corner and who
we missed all year. Tampa's future could be in jepardy if gruden
and allen runs things like they did in oakland with old players,
however if they stick with rich mckays method and not resign
guys like hardy nickerson in his prime cause he turned 30.
Tampa's option was to replace him thru the draft not re sign him.

Brad johnson is gone after 2004 here. The bucs really like
simms who was projected to be taken last year in round 1
and everyone here couldnt beleive he slipped to the 3rd rd.
He could be our future here like grossman is chicago's.
Personally i like simms better then grossman and boller.
    But thats my opinon.

Just remember tampa's cap problems can be fixed. If not
we all know the way to fix it. If thats the way, then we know
tampas options. Draft is the bucs concern and bucs scouts
and coaches are still here. There top notch at taking talent
in later rounds. Tho rich mckay is gone, he worked our numbers
more then he did the war room. Bruce allen i understand is
very good with numbers, he did very well in oakland. Besides
al davis wouldnt have him there if he was terrible. Only
thing that worrys me is how allen and gruden loves older
players, especially from the bay area in sanfran. Hopefully
the glazer famly put a stop to that. Last thing i wanna see
is jerry rice, rich gannon, charlie garner here in tampa.
Like i said hopefully the glazers stop that if they try.

Alot of time to fix these things bearsfan. Bucs problems
are a every year reality, they have had to face for 27
years of existence. Its the nfl, all teams face the same
problems figuring out your salery cap, some worse then
others. Tampa will be back, we faced too many shitty
    years to fall back again.
