hahahahif this happens Kobe is going to be right sh*tty!Leaves the Lakes SFA to play with - they might have to trade him after all!
IMO, Boston needs to just stop all this, cause it seems the only trade they are going to do will involve Jefferson. Put Paul Pierce on the market now and build the Celtics around a future all-star big man in Jefferson. Hell, you are probably better off that way...If yall can keep Jefferson though, do it.
Guys, don't even think about Al Jefferson. I honestly don't think Danny will trade him and I am willing to bet that he is not involved in these talks. I'm guessing the deal would look something like this:Boston Gets: Shawn Marion, #24Phoenix Gets: Kevin Garnett, Delonte WestMinnesota Gets: Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green, Kurt Thomas, Sebastian Telfair, #5, #29I don't know how that works financially, but I'm assuming it would be something to that extent, with necessary fillers (Marcus Banks, Brian Scalabrine, James Jones?) to make it happen.

Boston could be a Finals team next year :shok: ...only cause they're in the East though.
This trade seems MUCH fairer for all the teams involved unlike the previous 4 way trade.me and a friend were talkin and came up with the trade basically looking like thishoenix gets KGBoston Gets MarionMinny Gets Pick 5, Pick 24, Pick 29, Hawks 2008, Gerald Green, Kurt Thomas and RatliffThe Suns become Title favorites. The Celtics lose a bit but gain a running mate for pierce and end up keeping Jefferson which is majorly important. And the Wolves get true superstar value for KG getting cap relief, 4 firsts..1 top 5..and a potential top 10 and a great youngin in Gerald Green.
Hey if we keep al and pierce and pick up marion....any one is expendable. As much as I'd like to keep gerald, I would throw him in for marion real quick.

He just doesn't really fit in Boston and would be utilized more efficiently in Phoenix. Phoenix could a backup SG behind Bell, and have Barbosa coming off the bench playing PG. I don't think Phoenix would be interested in Gomes, either, he is more of a half-court kind of guy and gets hustle points/bangs in the paint. At 24, there's a good chance Belinelli, Cook, or Afflalo will still be there.

I think a backcourt with West and Rondo is nice for the C's.
and yet another Suns rumor http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2007/ne...tory?id=2917804<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Phoenix Suns are discussing a trade with the Charlotte Bobcats for the No. 8 pick to get into the NBA draft lottery, multiple sources close to both organizations told ESPN.com Tuesday night.Although Phoenix forward Shawn Marion can opt out of his contract at the end of next season, a source close to the Suns told ESPN.com that he is not part of a deal and is expected to stay put.The source indicated that role players were involved in the proposed trade, but at least one other team besides Phoenix and Charlotte is also involved, making the deal difficult to pull off. The Suns currently own picks No. 24 and 29 in the first round while Charlotte has Nos. 8 and 21. Phoenix convinced the agents for likely lottery players Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah of Florida, Jeff Green of Georgetown and Brandan Wright of North Carolina to work out for the Suns because they felt confident they could get into the top 10. The Suns also invited Celtics executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers to watch the workouts in Phoenix. The Celtics and Suns both told ESPN.com, however, that Boston was there to watch the workout, not to discuss a trade. Both said the Celtics and Suns aren't trade partners for the Celtics' No. 5 pick. The Celtics could throw a curveball at the rest of the lottery. They are working out USC junior guard Nick Young on Wednesday morning at their practice facility in Waltham.Young, who has been projected by most NBA personnel to go as high as No. 13 to New Orleans, is a personal favorite of Celtics' assistant general manager Leo Papile. Papile wants Ainge and Rivers to see Young before Thursday's draft and decide if he is a viable alternative for the Celtics at No. 5 if the team decides against going with China's Yi Jianlian. Young, considered one of the top shooting guards in the draft, could displace Green, Noah or Brewer as the Celtics' Plan B.</div>2 reports on ESPN 1 says Marion would go to Boston the other says he stays put both say they get their information from sources with the Suns organization. It is to the point where you wonder is Steve Kerr is flooding the media networks with smokescreen rumors to hide what he is really trying to do.

Let me remind you that this trade, despite bringing in Marion, damages Boston's depth. It gives up a SG who decent time in Green, the starting PG: Delonte West, Theo Ratliff, and most importantly the #5 pick. The lack of depth at the 1 isn't a big deal, however Boston's supporting cast aside from their potential "big three" or maybe 4 with Wally Sczerbiack, is still very weak. It's essentially: Pierce, Wally, Big Al, Marion, Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo, and Ryan Gomes. This squad has a powerful starting lineup but the supporting cast will be too weak to contend for a championship. If Marion comes to Boston then I do expect them the make the playoffs. I'm not sure about Boston's cap situation going into free agency (How much money do they have for Free Agents?) but right now I can only seem them being slightly above the Nets level.

I mean, they are dealing a top 10 player in the league and all they get is Ratliff/Green/few draft picks? But, if Minnesota agreed to it, I think it'd be an awesome trade for the Suns and Celtics. Suns already have a lot of fastbreak players and a great perimeter defender in Bell, so Marion isn't totally needed if you're adding KG, who gives the Suns a MAJOR offensive weapon, an amazing rebounder, and a presence defensively down low (something they sorely need). Nash feeding both KG/Amare off pick and rolls? I am having an orgasm just thinking about it. As for the Celtics, Marion is young, can run the floor, and is a very nice do it all player who will fit in with the Celtics while taking very little offense away from Pierce/Jefferson. If a few role players were added through free agency, Celtics could be really good.

Some teams take over a decade to recover and finally rebuild after a player the magnitude of a KG leaves. Salary relief is nice, but so is trade assets so they can go out and get a player you can build around in the future. If GG doesn't blow up in the next 2 years or however long he has in his rookie contract, the Wolves will be absolutely stuck. It will be impossible to lure top talent to Minnesota, very hard to trade for a top player, and they'd have to pray every year that they get a top 2 pick, and even if they get that there's never guarantee that player pans out.
The Suns deserve a break after all the bad stuff that has happened over the years, COME ON! Get'r done and I won't hate UA as much, Sarver/Kerr.Marion has no power. If he opts out he's stupid because no team would offer him that much next year and he will be more loved in Boston. Make the right choice Shawn. We don't like you, leave, please.

He's shown in Boston that he can score in many different ways: mid-range game, driving to the basket, spotting up for the three, etc. Not to mention Minnesota still have a very young and promising PG in Randy Foye who'll probably get more minutes because of Mike James' departure. Rashad McCants is taking slower than expected to contribute but he'll be a decent player in this league, and Craig Smith is just a guy I love.. he'll probably turn out a lot like Paul Millsap. Minnesota also isn't dealing their 7th pick, therefore they could draft Spencer Hawes who has shown flashes of Kevin McHale himself. They would have a variety of young players after this trade.. but depending who would be the leading scorer (after Ricky Davis) next year and the quickest in developing their game will be the guy they build around.
