<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Zards @ Jun 27 2007, 12:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Gerald Green will be an above 15 ppg scorer in less than 2 years. He's shown in Boston that he can score in many different ways: mid-range game, driving to the basket, spotting up for the three, etc. Not to mention Minnesota still have a very young and promising PG in Randy Foye who'll probably get more minutes because of Mike James' departure. Rashad McCants is taking slower than expected to contribute but he'll be a decent player in this league, and Craig Smith is just a guy I love.. he'll probably turn out a lot like Paul Millsap. Minnesota also isn't dealing their 7th pick, therefore they could draft Spencer Hawes who has shown flashes of Kevin McHale himself. They would have a variety of young players after this trade.. but depending who would be the leading scorer (after Ricky Davis) next year and the quickest in developing their game will be the guy they build around.</div>You just don't build around a 15PPG scorer, or guys who will never be more than above average players in this league. If you want to win, you build around a guy who can be a superstar in this league. As we have seen with teams like the Hakws, Bobcats and Celtics, even if you have a lot of young talent they rarely pan out to be great players. And if one does turn out to be an all star player, it is still very hard to build around him and be successful (ie- Joe Johnson). Basically what I'm saying is that if the Wolves don't land Jefferson in this trade, I feel they are gonna be in constant turmoil and losing for many, many years unless they struck it very lucky in the draft.
From SI<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I was putting no stock in the rumor that Boston may land Kevin Garnett, even before his agent, Andy Miller, said the deal was dead. Word is spreading around the league that Garnett will exercise his option to leave Minnesota a year early, with Phoenix or the Lakers as speculated destinations -- even if he has to accept the $5 million mid-level exception as his starting salary in 2008-09.</div>Holay molay!
Apparently the Mavs have been trying to hook in Garnett for themselves, at least that is what hoopshype is saying right now.http://www.dallasbasketball.com/newmainArticle.asp?id=170
If Garnett lands on the Suns with them still keeping amare then you have a VERY deadly team. Possibly one of the greatest frontcourts ever and definately a chance to win a championship(as a matter of fact id pick them now if it happens)PG- Steve NashSG-Leandro BarbosaSF-Boris Diaw(he will likely have a bounce back season)PF-Kevin GarnettC- Amare StoudemireNo one can stop that frontcourt, not even San Antonio. Boris Diaws passing skills will only further help along with Nash's unbelievable ability to set up his teammates and Barbosa's added perimeter scoring.
Yep, but I still like Bell in the line-up, but they can switch off. I just prefer the better defensive player starting with a quick scorer off the bench. San Antonio won't stop that. With KG there Amare can wreak havoc on the offensive end and not get in foul trouble. We'd have 2 shot blocking threats in the middle to stop the easy lay-ups. Even if this doesn't work out now, that SI article gives me some hope. That is an orgasmic trio.
Anyone think Kevin Garnett would take touches away from Amare and hinder his development? Just some thoughts..
No...nothing can hinder Amares developement...and remember KG isnt some 28ppg scorer...hes usually somewhere around 20-22ppg....around the same as Marion...so I dont think the touches of Amare or Nash will be affected...I actually think KG will eluvate Amares game.

We might see Amare's offensive numbers go down (Garnett's as well), but Nash keeps everybody in the offense.
I agree with BCB2, they would actually make each other look better. I hate getting my hopes up only to be disappointed, but I really can't help it now. This is one of those "too good to be true" things I think. Amare + KG is unbelievably SICK!
The problem with Dallas making a move for KG is that they would have to completely decimate their roster to get him. Minnesota would demand Howard and Harris (since Dallas has no lottery picks and they couldn't get 1 for Terry/Dampier to offer) and Terry or Dampier to a 3rd team for an expiring contract that Minnesota would accept. They would basically be a 2 man team with Stackhouse and Devean George being the best of the rest.

As you said, KG isn't a big time scorer and is willing to take a back seat. With that offense, he will be taking less shots, but off a Nash/KG pick and roll his FG % will skyrocket. Seriously, how can you defend 2 of the most athletic post players in the league when they are coming off pick and rolls with the best PG in the NBA? And to go along with their amazing athletic ability, they can also shoot the midrange very well, thus making them unstoppable to stop. It's scary to think about.
Nash is reaching the Big Unit as my favorite player in sports history. It's great that he's such an outgoing guy and makes friends with guys like KG and leads an offense that's very attractive to most players.
