What could it hurt? It's not like the Blazers are going to win a ton of games anyway. Bring him in for a year and if it doesn't work it doesn't work.

Montero is a gamble, Jimmer is a waste of time and money.

Keeping Montero is like hanging onto a Lottery ticket you haven't scratched yet.... Signing Jimmer is like hanging onto the receipt for the lottery ticket.

Oh my! One (Montero) is raw and full of promise/potential. The other (Jimmer) is PROVEN that can't play at this level.

Who was his BYU coach? That guy sucks.

Just like I blame Bill Self. Great recruiter, then consistently produces undercoached players like Thomas Robinson and Cliff Alexander.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Self#Professional_players_coached

..Well, I looked up the BYU coach. It's Dave Rose. Other than Fredette, the only NBA player Rose has ever produced was the undrafted Brandon Davies.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/daviebr01.html

So I'll be more sympathetic to Rose, because he isn't the recruiter Self is. Fredette's team was so bad, Rose did the right thing in making him selfish.

Aw, who am I fooling. Lillard and McCollum were surrounded by nothing in college, yet their coaches taught them how to share the ball. I'm returning to my previous opinion. Fredette's failure is Rose's fault.

No, he is like the scratch ticket you paid 5 bucks for on a road trip and forgot to scratch until you got home. Then you win 2 bucks. Do you drive 500 miles to cash it in?

    I wouldn't.

You are proof that the future of America lies in its youth, the ones who listen to my pearls of wisdom. Through you, my knowledge will live eternally, if I die before you. That won't happen, because I plan to knock you off tonight in a burglary.

""...speedy reserve combo guards routinely treated Fredette like a revolving door to buckets. "His foot speed at that position isn't on par with those guys. That's a big deal," the NBA assistant said. "I think the big thing for Jimmer is not offensively but defensively."...

Fredette may have had a place in the NBA in 1954, but not 2015. He is a slow, unathletic undersized SG who can't guard anybody, can't create for himself, or others, and can't get his own shot off against taller, faster defenders. He's basically, a shorter, younger version of me (but at least I play good position defense and rebound well for my size).
