How the hell does Minnesota keep getting good value out of must-trade players in the final year of their contract?

Kevin Love got them a #1 pick.

Butler got them Saric and Covington.

    Minnesota got
Good. I stand corrected. They always seemed to shoot well from deep when I watch.

I would trade Et and Aminu for Covington and Saric so fast I’d trip over myself.

It's probably wishful thinking but maybe Saric and/or Covington just became more attainable? Especially if they struggle with Minny.

I could see Saric struggling to fit in with Thibs. If he became available I’d trade for him in a second. He’d fit into the Vonleh TPE too.

    Honest question... Why...?
Covingtons not as over paid as ET but he’s progressively gotten worse and he’s not “young” in nba terms, anymore. Sarics got hype around him. Neither of them is going to give you the defense Aminu will. ET’s probably the most legitimate ball handler.

They had nothing to offer.... do they really think 5 shitty first rounders was better than this?

Covington is a better defender than Aminu and probably a better shooter as well. He’s also under contract longer.

Saric is a personal favorite of mine. Offensively can do a little bit of everything, including playmaking.

I know the stats point to Covington but I think Aminu one on one defense is better, Aminu also rebounds better (which is an extension of defense imo).

Saric to me has always had some hype around him and you see it here and there but he’s hasnt seemed to adjust well to Embiid / Simmons becomming the focal points of the offense.

I dont know to me overall its 4 guys who are all role players and I guess Covington / Saric are “probably” better but its not that big of a jump in my opinion.

For the most part I'm seeing Houston fans understanding that Saric/Covington is better than 4 late firsts.

Something, something, something NBA doesn't want Houston to dethrone the Warriors.
Something, something, something Adam Silver blocked the trade.
Something, something, something we'll get Boogie for the vet min next year.

It seems to be implied in the ESPN article that Butler or his agent were amenable to re-signing in Philly and also that it was important for Minny to get him out of the West.

"The Sixers and Butler, a four-time All-Star, have every intention of formalizing a long-term agreement this summer, sources said"

"The Timberwolves accomplished one goal in the trade, league sources said: sending Butler to the Eastern Conference and not to a Western rival."

They must have a good GM that isn't afraid to make changes.

How badly do you want Saric?

Aminu and Leonard for Dieng and Saric? It would suck to take on Dieng's contract but is that worth getting Saric for practically nothing (if Aminu leaves after this season)?
