League sources have consistently told me that Butler desires to play for a big-market franchise...Few players check as many boxes as Jimmy Buckets does, and it shows in the numbers. The Wolves outscored opponents by 10 points per 100 possessions when Butler shared the court with Towns and Wiggins last season, making them one of the best trios in the league. But when Butler was on the bench, they were outscored by 1.3 points per 100 possessions—about equal to the Lakers, per NBA.com. The Wolves were 10-13 in the 23 games that Butler missed; as Thibodeau said, Butler truly did change everything, which is why he’s reportedly reluctant to trade him.

The problem for any teams interested in acquiring Butler is that he just turned 29, has managed to play more than 68 regular-season games only twice in his seven-year career because of a laundry list of injuries, and he wants to be re-signed to a five-year, $190 million contract...The Timberwolves are paying that price right now after dealing Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and Lauri Markkanen for what looks to be a one-season rental of Butler.

My concerns is if we trade Dames bud/brother and bring in a guy that has the alfa dog thing going and maybe leaves, what impact does this whole thing have on Dame in a couple years?

Dame and Butler could fit together perfectly, or could clash and butt heads like no other.

Doesn’t matter as long as they win.

    It's pretty simple:

If we can get Butler long-term (sign and trade?) I would give up CJ.

    OR

If Butler is a 1 year rental, DO NOT offer CJ or Collins

    Roll the dice.

This team needs to stop being conservative. We traded for JR Rider at the peak of his bad reputation. He helped get us to the WCF.

I'm tired of this boring ass vanilla bullshit. CJ isn't that good.

Thats kind of how I feel, playing the long game is fine to a certain extent and being patient can pay dividends no doubt, but itd be nice to have an aggressive GM who got stuff done then have GM who seems to do nothing...

I googled "is Raskolnikov an asshole" and learned Jimmy Butler is Raskolnikov.

It means TOR mortgaged the farm for one 1-year rental, might as well go all-in and add a 2nd.

How can you be tired when you admit you don't invest much emotion in the team?

Yes, it does matter, because one could lead to them winning for years, and the other would result in both being pissed off and Jimmy leaving.

So Jimmy will be 30 next year right?
If he wants paid its in Jimmy’s best interest to stop pissing off everyone he plays with. If he comes out of this next season only playing 65 games and a malcontent I think the amount of teams willing to give him that giant contract he wants will dwindle.

You need to stop worrying about other posters and focus on the topic at hand.
