I think that I would consider a trade of CJ for Jimmy and a swap of 2019 first round selections (Portland's option) and if Jimmy does not sign next year with the Blazers, Twolves add a 2nd round pick to Portland. Then my starting line-up would be Dame, Stauskus, Butler, Aminu, Nurkic
Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn · 7m Story posting soon: The Houston Rockets are making a renewed bid to acquire Minnesota All-Star Jimmy Butler, including four future first-round draft picks in their most recent trade offer, league sources tell ESPN.
Makes sense. It looks like Minnesota won’t be competitive even with him on the team so they will probably wait until a desperate team pay a good price. A lot of assets will become available after Dec 15 too. For example Clippers would be able to offer them Avery Bradley in a deal.
I don’t know what they’re offering, doesn’t matter, we could top it if we had a GM with balls. Olshey should be all in anyway. He’s probably gone when the new ownership takes over. Oh look, the CJ ISO show starts in twenty minutes. See ya guys!
I know it's a small sample size but Avery Bradley is making a strong case for worst player in the league so far.
Harden, CP3 and Butler together?? If it works then the draft picks will be very late 1st round picks, But would it work? How could it in that offense?
I REALLY hope Houston does not get Butler. I dislike the Rockets more than any other team. If they do land Butler, I hope CP3 immediately gets injured and Harden/Butler don't get along so that Butler leaves at the end of the year.
My question is what are the protections of those firsts? If it’s limited as reported, Houston is mortgaging their future. There’s so much risk involved that you have to respect Morey for it. I don’t think Houston can beat Golden State, even with Butler, but they’ll get a lot closer than anyone else, at least in the West. He makes up for some of the defense they lost in the offseason (ariza) and more importantly gives them another legit scorer. But if they can’t re-sign him....man.
Along with the picks if they give up Tucker their front line takes another hit considering they use him as a big man most of the time. If they trade Gordon that hurts their outside shooting and their bench. If both are included with picks I'm not so sure they get that much better. I'm in no way saying that Gordon or Tucker are close to Butler, they aren't, but for what Houston tries to do it's not that much of a step up in my opinion.
That’s a really stupid offer from Houston. I don’t understand why they’re going all in while the warriors are starting 5 superstars. And Chris Paul is not a guy that I would be hanging my hopes and dreams on. Adding Butler won’t win them a championship. Apparently they didn’t learn from Brooklyn.
4 draft picks until 2025 won't win them a championship. They were damn close to beating the warriors last year. Adding Butler greatly increases their chances. I'd still pick GS, but we've seen Curry or Durant have major injuries, that could easily happen then Houston would be favorites. I'd go for the trade if I was their GM. It would have a ton of downside risk and could look terrible in a few years. Or it could help them beat GS. I'd be happy to watch either happen.
They almost beat GS but have lost Ariza, Mbah A Moute, and whoever they have to give up in a Butler trade. Butler is an iso player that thrives creating for himself, which he is pretty dang good at. In Houston's offense he'd have to he more of a spot up shooter which he isn't quite as good at. I'm not saying it wouldn't work but it isn't a slam dunk to be great either.
