Being fair, it's Butler and Gibson. That's a whole lot of Defense coming back. Butler is a stud. Elite perimeter defender, puts up 20/6/3 on .462/.378/.834, gets to the foul line a ton (7 shots a game) and has done this on a terrible offensive team. Taj Gibson would be a good first big off the bench (if LA was traded in this hypothetical deal, Leonard gets the starting nod). He puts up 10/6 with a block a game and very efficient shooting, I'm not a fan of his fake tough guy antics but he is a good bench big.
If it's true that Butler and Rose aren't getting along, we should definitely try to pry him away from the Bulls, especially if LA doesn't want to be in Portland either. What if we traded LA, Batum, and Kaman to Chicago for Butler and Mirotic. Chicago might say yes because Gasol/LA/Gibson/Kaman/Noah is a very strong front court rotation. If they want to win now, this is the way to go, and Gasol can prolong his career playing only 25ish minutes a night. Butler leaving also will help develop Snell. Portland should resign Matthews and have Butler start at sf and have Mirotic start at pf. With what would've been Batum and Lopez's salaries, sign Chandler to a 3 yr/36 million contract and resign Dorell Wright to a 3 yr/9 million contract (he wants to come back and was playing big for us for about a month before he went down). Hope Afflalo opts in. With the 23rd pick, draft a big man, let's just say we went all in on Upshaw. A lineup of Pg Lillard/McCollum/Blake Sg Matthews/Afflalo/McCollum Sf Butler/Wright/Afflalo Pf Mirotic/Leonard/FA C Chandler/Upshaw/FA Would be semi-competitive and compete for the 8th seed. With Mirotic developing, we'll be better down the line. If we made the lottery, that'd be even better cause we can keep our pick next year and keep building. Who says no in this trade scenario?
FWIW, I don't think the bulls would trade Butler for LMA. They certainly wouldn't trade Mirotic; he's on a great contract and he may turn into an all-star in the next season or two.
uh, what difference does it make how you became a lottery team? Chicago might become a winner and Portland has no chance with a twin chucker back court.
Hers something different.. Any chance at something like Batum, Afflalo, Leonard, Kaman and 23rd pick for Butler and Gibson? Bulls: Rose-Afflalo-Batum-Mirotic-Noah Bench:Brooks-Kirk-MikeD-Meyers-Kaman -Decent lineup, decent bench.. They get a young piece in Leonard and a pick.. More importantly they would have $63M in cap room in 2016 to pursue Durant and another max FA with cap room to spare Blazers: Lillard-Wes-Butler-Aldridge-Rolo Bench: McCollum-Covington-Taj-Kofous That's stacked
The Bulls are the only team that made the playoffs that had zero players on the roster acquired in a trade, other than a draft day trade for draft picks. That might be an indication of how likely they are to trade one of the two best players they've drafted since the dynasty years, and who's only 25 years old.
That doesn't mean much. That's like saying the Spurs drafted a lot of their guys and only sign FAs as role players, so LMA would never be signed there
No it's not. The Spurs have signed FAs and made trades. The Bulls don't make trades, except for draft picks on draft day. Like LMA to Portland for Tyrus Thomas. Kyle Korver for a TPE they let expire. They traded Hinrich to Washington for cap relief. I think they're happier paying $ to Pau to be their all star at C than trading for a 30 year old MAX contract player that isn't worth the extra &8M+ they'd have to pay.
Bro I don't think they'll trade Butler. I'm just saying if they can put their team in a better position via trade, theyd do it
