This is the full interview. I know clips have been posted but the whole video is really good. Dame is just such an amazing dude. He's unique. Not even as a player. You could take his skill as a player out entirely. The dude is unique as a person. I have talked to a lot of players in my life and Dame is special. Most athletes are not this honest. Period. They just aren't. We are extremely lucky to have had him as a Blazer. Not many athletes have been as good a player as Dame while also simultaneously being this real. Love the guy.
Great interview - Dame was really relaxed and it was nice that the interviewer (JJ) knew Dame and could relate to him on a personal as well as a professional level.
There's literally no argument that he's the greatest blazer of all time. Rings don't mean everything. People do.
True enough....but I can't help but think that if Dame finishes his career here without a championship he will look back at it and be disappointed by the fact the ownership/management fucked an entire kennel of dogs. (no SPD)
If he has this perspective in his late 20s and early 30s, and it's cemented. It's not going to change with age. Fans will be idiotic, but he will be fine.
To not be the greatest, yes. He's in the conversation for 2 or 3. Dame is #1 and it's a fact at this point, not opinion.
Just the most well thought and grounded superstar in the history of professional sports. We’re extremely lucky to be Blazers fans in the Dame Lillard era. We’d be luckier if we had better management/ownership during this era but regardless I count myself as lucky to have this guy on our team in my lifetime.
Loved how he talked about he has real friends and calls his grandmother frequently. I think of sports stars who made millions and wound up broke. Throwing money at strippers and hangers on. Can't see that happening with Dame. He has his head screwed on right and wealth and game haven't changed that.
Dame has wisdom. Plain and simple. For a guy in his 30s worth a kajillion dollars it's even more remarkable.
They had a conversation. Someone running the video. 3 guys on couches. Outstanding work! I look forward to next season. The playoff run … good stuff. Counting Lillard and the Blazers out this season is about math. Not Cronin or Billups. It’s whether other guys on the team will play hard enough — enough guys believing and focused and acting like it just to have a a shot because they’re almost as healthy as it gets at this time of year. Cinderella seasons are that much fun, so I’m quietly hoping for the play-in … But I know the odds for contending are better with the lottery and a BIG trade this summer. I understand being fed up with wasting 1st rounders in trade like Olshey did. Yup. However, it’s interviews like this one that feed being all-in on making the BEST moves possible this summer around Dame.
I've been against the idea of trading Dame just to rebuild, but I have said there are guys you certainly would have to trade Dame for if they were offered up... Interviews like this make it incredibly difficult for me to even be ok with trading him for a younger superstar.
