It will take a least 5 years before the Hawks can be contenders.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Also the Suns would be around $15 million under the cap THIS YEAR! JJ is asking for a $14 million contract and if we do not sign him we save that money towards the cap. Also the Suns intend to sign Amare to an extension this summer which would go into effect in 2006-2007 not this summer. If you think Amare is going anywhere then you are a fool.</div>

Let's see now, say the Suns signed JJ to a max deal:

That leaves Nash, with a deal of 9.2 million next year, 06-07 - 10.5 million, then 11.7 million then 12.2 million.

    Marion - Next year, 13.7m, 06-07, 15m, 07-08, 16.4m, then 17.1m.

    JJ - About 14 m a year.

Thomas 8 m a year Amare goes to FA.

Amare's extension you speak of, is part of his rookie contract. A team option, and it doesn't matter really, because that option ends in 07-08, while all 4 guys will still be under contract. If you're wondering why ther'es bold, that's when Amare's option is up and goes into FA, tha'ts the salary of the main players.

That's 49.7 m (around there) for 4 players the year Amare goes into FA. The salary cap for the NBA in the year 05-06 (the year the CBA is in effect) the cap is <u>$49.5 million.</u> It will be slightly more in 07-08, but not by much, it is 51% of the BRI in 07-8 which is 51 million. I think the cap would be in 07-08. That leaves the Suns with 1.3 m in cap space BEFORE signing Amare, who will get the max in 07-08 which will be 12.75 m. (25% of the salary cap) Add in the other players to actually complete the roster... wow.

I think you were thinking too much in short term than the Suns office... you would have to lose at least one of your main guys, and JJ is the most expendable by far. You say in your other posts that some how you have proved me wrong, I guess you were lying...

I agree, signing JJ would be a short term solution, but the Suns are in a position to win a championship right now in the short term. If they don't re-sign JJ their chances greatly decrease for winning a title. Even if they didn't win, they could trade JJ or Marion later on, since they would end up losing one of them anyways. So why not rent JJ for a season or two and increase the odds of winning a title?

Let's see jackass! I said that the money was for the upcoming season. I did not say it was in future seasons. I am also aware of the contract figures so you have wasted your time typing (some other posters may appreciate it). Also tell me, where does JJ's money go? Do you get it? The Suns now have that money to spend. Amare is an unrestriced FA after this season. You can call ask the Suns FO if you prefer. The contract (max) would not go into effect in 07-08 it is 06-07. And yes I am not worried about the short term, because in the short term we can win a championship. I am sorry to say the same cannot be said for the Raps [IMG] !

Also did it take you like a week to look up those figures because your response sure was delayed. You were questioning me on many differant topics too but I guess you have no response to those because you were proven wrong.

Why do you have to swear at me, how did I ever do anything to make you angry. And you also had to take another shot at the Raps. I don't go on JBB 24/7 so it didn't take me a week to write up one post. You're getting too personal in a simple debate, so I'll end it now.
