Purchased NBA League Pass for first time in at least 10 years today. Being competitive in the games we are supposed to be is important. Cronin doing well at this point.

I mean the Sharpe pick was great, especially when everyone was clamoring for Dyson Daniels. Dude swung for the fences.

But that’s kind of how the Olshey era gained traction. A home run on a draft pick out of the gate

When we finish the season with 27 wins, I'll still appreciate what Cronin has done!

Yeah but Cronin has done SO much better than Neil ever did at creating a balanced roster.

And Joe traded his LMA

    Very true.

with Joe I was the biggest critic of his early trades. The Powell and CJ. I didn’t really love the Grant signing. But since then I like the way he assembled the roster while collecting assets. He seems to put a premium on defense with our bigs they have really been protecting the paint

Same here. Games like the one today are fun to watch, win or lose. It just so happens that we were lucky today, but we’re still going to be bad. I’m just happy to see effort and development.

Even if we only win <30 games, we are in a good spot knowing 3 or 4 out of 5 spots in the starting lineup are filled, and that someone at the top of this draft is going land with us. Plenty of young talent to look forward to as well like Camara, Walker, Rupert, and whoever we pick with the GS pick.

Completely agree. We have four of our starting five of the future all 25 and under. Just need a power forward. I hope we trade Simons for a PF.

I'll be honest, if Simons accepts a Microwave role, I don't want to trade him. The wait before we start making waves in the playoffs is probably a year shorter than people think. Grant might be our starting PF in the second round of a playoffs before he can even totally age out of his prime. And it's all because of our team defense.

This draft isn’t guard heavy. I think we will very likely come away with our SF or PF of the future this summer.

2024 draft is very wing/forward/big heavy. Agree

Which is why we can afford to play it out right now with what we have. There is no reason to force a trade of our vets, or Ant just for the sake of fit at this point, unless someone makes a ridiculous offer.

I also think it’s good to go give our young guys a competitive environment. If we get smashed every night, that’s not good for anyone.

Exactly. It's the best way to build a winning culture. Otherwise you turn into Detroit or Houston.

Which is why Houston spent an obscene amount of money on guys just to achieve what we are achieving lol.

Brogdon is 30 years old, a 6'5" guard who doesn't rely on athleticism but does use his size well.

Lebron is 38 years old and does rely on his athleticism.

Brogdon has already shown how valuable he can be with his size, scoring, playmaking, and ball handling ability just 6 games into the season.

I’m dreaming of this roster heading into 2023-24:

    Scoot/Shae/Matas Buzelis/Camara/DA

Young guys: Bobi Klintman, Walker, Murray, Rupert, Baba Miller

Vets: Ant (?), Williams, Grant/Brogdon filler

Obviously, if Ant proves he’s here to stay, you could move Shae to SF and Buzelis could start his career off the bench. Doesn’t matter. If Schmitz works his magic and Cronin keeps bringing in valuable vets while he capitalizes on Grant/Thybulle/Brogdon and accumulates assets.

We’re in an amazing spot right now. Shae is showing a near star-level leap right now, and DA is proving be’s a long term piece here. That’s already a huge relief. Plus, the Bucks will probably continue to look subpar defensively until at least the deadline, so good signs for those future picks so far. We really need 1, maybe 2 young wing prospects. As long as we cycle in good vets to help develop the young guys that Schmitz keeps drafting, we will be golden very very soon. We could probably get to the playoffs before teams like Detroit and Utah and Charlotte.

I’ll admit I wanted Keegan. Especially if Dame was staying, which he did last season. But now that Dame is gone I see Sharpe as a far more important player in Portland. He has star potential. Keegan is gonna have a great career and be a borderline all star most likely. Will be rooting for him.
