Somebody would do a sign and trade with us for Greg I'm sure.

    I just came across this:
(joel has) career averages of 4.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. Wow Marcus Camby is awesome!

You have to realize that when we were a contending team, that his value is measured by a lot more then his #'s. Guy was an enforcer..... great weak side defense. Probably the MVP of the team behind Brandon one year. I know that is a stretch, but he was huge for us. No need to hate on a player who leaves it out on the court night in and night out.

You don't believe a team would take a chance on Greg?

why would a team have to S&T with us for Greg? He's likely out all of next season. So even if a team did want to signn him this offseason, to lock him in for a ocuple of years cheap, there isn't going to be competition to pay for his rehab, and he'd likely be getting well south of the MLE. So basically EVERY team can make him an offer that should be enough to get him without us having to S&T him.

Probably. You get his Bird rights, so why not? It's also a good reason why not to waive him

No team is going to sign and trade for Greg. There's absolutely zero incentive to do so.

what good are his bird rights, though, honestly? The ability to offer him 5 years instead of 4, or go over the cap? That has no value anymore.

What good are his bird rights though? That only comes into play if he was choosing a 4 or 5 year deal and big money.

I think so as well, i fntohing else, just to save Greg the embarrassment, as sort of a good will gesture. Not for any future sense, a discount, whatever. Just to say hey, people are ragging on you in the media again, or, just bringing up the bust stuff, etc., and we'll let you finish the season with the team, instead of following up surgery with headlines of Oden waived by Blazers.
