Shooting from 20' is a bad idea, anyway. I don't want players who have a main strength in shooting from 18-21'. Long jumpers that aren't three-pointers are the least efficient shot in the game. The most efficient shots are three-pointers (assuming you convert them at a good clip) and shots near the hoop. Long jumpers approximate the difficulty level of three-pointers without the payoff of an extra point. Miller is good at generating baskets near the hoop (and free throws). It would be great if he could also shoot well from three-point range, but if he could, he'd be a star and never would have been available for cap space. No one questions that he has flaws to his game, but he has major strengths that are valuable to winning games: getting to the hoop for baskets and fouls, creating for teammates and good rebounding (for his position, obviously). He's not a perfect player, he's merely a player who contributes a lot to the team's effort at winning games.
Dude, the fans here don't hate Miller. There's a few people who know that he's a "button" they can push and they like to push that button to rile up the community. It's no different than some fans claiming that Sergio is the greatest point guard since Magic, or others claiming that Yi and Andre Blatche will be All-Stars. It's just bait and some fans keep taking it.
Yeah, I could have added "Some" as a qualifier, but I thought it was obvious from the context I was referring to the idiots that fail to acknowledge that basketball is a team sport and have been all over Andre Miller before he even set foot in town. They were so damned determined that Miller was a "bad fit" they'd rather see the guy fail than admit they were wrong. BTW, Canzano thought the same thing, and the consensus around here seems to be he is a fucking idiot, too. And, since Brandon Roy isn't even playing, you'd think the "bad fit" argument would be moot, but the same idiots still try to blame every loss on Miller. BNM
