Wow, I can think of a variety of reasons to be irritated by Paxson but this is a pretty big reach

I didn't know that I was responsible for us winning the lottery.

Paxson said Omer Asik will be coming over in 2010. If Tyrus doesn't get it by then, we will probably not extend a qualifying offer, and Asik will jump in as our starting power forward (or center, and shift Noah over to PF).

Its easier to win in the league with an all star point then an all star forward, note Warriors and Hornets in comparison to Clippers and even to some extent the Raptors over the last several seasons. A point guard is your quarterback while a forward is the RB. Although, both are essential there is a clear line as to which is more valuable. I feel like Tyrus can blossom playing with Rose much like Tyson did playing with Paul. Lets hope for the best.

I'll agree with Sloth to an extent. Beasley has all the skills in the world. He's good, and he'll be good on day one. The real reason you draft rose is not because of his own skills but what he can do for the team. It's not just Thomas: Deng and Gordon and Noah and Noc and Hinrich are all mired in mediocrity. They all have talent but nobody to put it together for them. This team needs a creator or none of them are going to pan out. And that's a hell of a lot of talent (and draft picks) to let rot.

As far as the guard rotation, I don't think anything has to be done. Let Hughes sit. Or Thabo, neither of them are good enough to force a trade for anyone. I think the three guard rotation of Hinrich, Gordon, and Rose is a good one. Especially if Hinrich bounces back.

It's still a hell of a gamble. Beasley is in all honesty a more complete prospect. The Bulls gambled on a player who may salvage the other players on the roster, which is fine. As long as Rose pans out.

As I see it, there's two ways to go with Rose. One is you hope he fits into some system that involves our current players, and the other is that you see him as the key to becoming a contender and you build around him.

I have a feeling the Bulls will try the first route, then go the 2nd. Pax hinted at it in his interview on draft night when he said that the Bulls are deep enough at G to bring Rose along slowly.

Maybe it's a good idea to bring Rose off the bench until after the circus trip and then give him the starting role; that trip is rough on the team and Rose's first experience as a starter shouldn't be a losing streak against the tougher teams in the league.

On the other hand, this same kind of thinking and application of it seems to have hurt Deng's overall progress and even Gordon's. Deng's minutes early on were less than they could have been because of Nocioni, and Gordon managed only 24 MPG as a rookie while winning 6th man of the year.

Thomas is a 5/5 guy after being basically a #2 pick, though he was given the starting job at the start of last season and they didn't stick with him for very long.

The idea of Rose doing for Thomas what Paul did for Chandler is interesting and something to hope for. What I foresee is that Noah is the guy Rose is going to really help get better; Thomas is severely unskilled while Chandler was one of our better players all along (played out of position tho) and Noah has skills at everything but shooting.

People are over-thinking this. Paxson is a poor judge of talent and he actually believes Rose is the best player out of the draft.
