If this even is in the works, though, it'd be a good move. He was considered a potential first-rounder much of last year but didn't enter the draft. Not as good as his brother, but still lot of potential.
Won’t be surprised if we somehow ended up with the dude. Maybe it’s going to be a spot on the 15-man roster and they have an agreement but need to be careful for the order in which they let the agreement be known (obviously a much smaller scale, but think back to when Zo Mourning said he agreed to a deal with the Heat before Juwan Howard and the NBA then blocked the Howard signing and he went back to the Heat). The order in which agreements occur can impact salary cap flexibility. Plus, if he were being signed to the 15-man, even non-guaranteed, it couldn’t happen for another week. Maybe Portland has a move they’re ready to make and they’re going to take a flier on this kid as the 15th man. Maybe I’m overthinking it. But I won’t be surprised if this is how it goes down, either.
Yeah that’s a possibility, or since he’s not healthy, maybe they have a “deal” for whenever he gets cleared to play. Guys can be signed to two way deals up until January I believe. I doubt that tweet was completely made up. There’s probably some truth to it.
I'd be very surprised if there isn't fire with this smoke. A guy with the Kansas City Star is just posting out of nowhere that Jontay Porter's signed with Portland? Seems unlikely. My guess is they've been talking about it.
I’d love it if it were a “troll” where the Jontay is like, “we agreed on that day, but the journalist said I ‘signed’. I didn’t sign that day, but I did agree.”
He is saying he hadn't signed with the Blazers ..... yet. https://larrybrownsports.com/basketball/jontay-porter-denies-report-signed-blazers/502180
