Since we had the 2nd highest salary in the league and before Nurk, were sitting just outside the #7 Lottery spot....yeah, I'm thinking we need a trade.
He should and likely will be forced to. He's too proud to admit his mistakes. This off season is showing they panic spent last year. Guys of Crabbe and ET's level are getting less money and shorter deals.
Yeah, it's almost like we have these young players and we have to develop them while still competing, but right before we develop them - we wanna ship them off for peanuts or players that have developed, but aren't gonna move the needle forward. Crabbe & Turner are 2 year commitments, at least.
My recollection was that at the time the thought was that the cap was going to drastically expand for 2 seasons, not 1.
The Blazers have said repeatedly that they're not going to do a trade this summer just to cut salary. It seems to be a fixation with some of you, but there is no reason to dump salary this summer as long as PA is okay with paying luxury tax this year. Becoming a repeat offender would hurt, but avoiding that only means cutting salaries by the trade deadline in February of 2019.
The Blazers very often say they aren't going to make a move or trade someone....right up till the point that they do.
I don't hear them saying that they won't make a trade that saves them money. Just that they're not going to lose talent in the process.
Well, as you might know, just like with herpes, a quick scratch is just enough relief to know a quick scratch is a bad idea.
Agreed, though.... Just cuz I'm too lazy.... Where do we now sit as far as average age? We were the youngest in the league when the season ended, and I always encourage some consistency and "gelling".
The problem with being young is that our young players outside the core 3 are all pretty one demensional with limited upside.
Hey, I'm not advocating for no movement, believe me. But players do learn and improve. I mean, the NBA used to have more patience and realize that consistency often lead to the sum of the parts equaling more than the individual parts. The league has changed. I'm just saying I can have some patience and don't feel like we need a bunch of changes all at once. And if you're one of the youngest rosters in the league, you can afford to be more patient than other teams.
We added Colling (19) and Swanigan (20) and traded Quartermann (22) and cut Ezeli (27). I imagine we rank even younger as far as the league goes. But the Blazers have a number of veterans. I would consider Dame, CJ, Davis, Turner, and Aminu all veterans by this point.
