    Hello darkness, my old friend
I'm as big a fan as anyone of Andre Miller, but I'd at least consider this deal. Gortat is a talented big man...Dallas tried to pry him away from Orlando and Orlando paid to retain him despite having Dwight Howard. That suggests they esteem him quite a bit.

I don't think it's a wonderful return on Miller, but it's not bad. If the Blazers can trade Camby/Przybilla for something shiny, then it's a pretty solid set of moves, IMO.

If Miller were in his 20s, this would be laughably bad. Since Miller only has another year or so beyond this one, as far as Portland is concerned, it's acceptable. If nothing better comes along.

I'm a huge Miller fan and probably will be until he retires. But I kind of like that trade. Maybe you package Gortat or Camby in a deal that nets us back Darren Collison, a guy who was on my radar over the summer that I thought we could get. He's got a nice perimeter shot that would probably play well beside Roy (if he's still around). Seems like a nice PGOTF project, even though he's not exactly tearing it up in Indiana. Or you go after one of Minnesota's guys or something.

Any way you look at it with Roy and Oden falling apart, Miller and Camby probably have much more value to contending teams than they do to us. (A front line of Camby and Howard is indeed terrifying.) Trading them out for younger talents could really speed up our rebuild-on-the-fly, which is what I want to do.

I have no idea if this rumor has any truth to it, but if it does then I'd be willing to bet that Cho has another deal lined up to bring in a PG.

Definitely. If he doesn't have that deal line up yet, he will.

Gortat really doesn't fit this team--he's good, but I have to believe Blazer management still have their eggs in the Greg Oden basket even after all the injuries. And we have Przybilla to help us limp along until next year. Besides, it may be that we want to run Aldridge at center more. He sure looked great playing it in the fourth quarter the other night.

Miller/Przy for Gortat/Nelson works in the trade machine. I really like Miller, but I'd do that.

Orlando gets screwed up on value here. Will have to add at least a pick to this, imho.

I can't see Orlando doing that, though. Maybe, who knows. I think Camby instead of Joel would have them think much harder about it. We'd need to take on one other contract from them, though.

    Gortat/Nelson/Bass for Miller/Camby

Orlando is a contender this year
The Blazers are rebuilding on the fly, getting a younger center, PG and backup PF

I'd do Miller/Camby/first round pick for Gortat/Nelson. To sort of fuse your thoughts together. I think that would at least be in the ballpark.

This deal alone would make the Blazers atrocious this year. Our already pathetic offense would become even more laughable without Miller.

If there is another trade lined up to get us a younger scorer, this trade might make some sense.

Being atrocious for the rest of this year might not be that bad...

The worst thing that could happen to the Blazers is that they are stuck at the low-playoffs seed/high lottery seed area for 2 more years...

I probably should have replaced "the rest of this year" with "the foreseeable future". Without another deal for a scorer, I don't see any of our players really being capable of getting this offense going.

Not that it is a huge help at the point, but we could swap Joel for Hinrich, get them out of the last year of Hinrich's deal, which I am sure they would be happy with. We add a stop gap who only has one year left after this one, at 8 million dollars. Miller and Joel for Hinrich and Gortat. Gets us a younger C, and in Hinrich, a decent fit for this season, and pushes to where we have an expiring contract next season, which might have a little value with the CBA changing.

We could then look to move Camby to the highest bidder for another young piece or two.

If I'm the Blazers that looks like a fantastic deal.

Nelson has his limitations, but he's serviceable and if nothing else it will give Roy the floor spacer at the one that he craves ... which should help hasten his move to the bench when he realizes that it wasn't his teammates after all that are causing his struggles. And for Orlando it at least gives them two solid veteran players which might be slight upgrades or at least a push in their run for a championship. Camby has the added benefit of being able to play alongside Howard as a power forward which Gortat can't do.

I think anyone would....except the Magic.

Jameer is kind of the heart and soul of that team imo. Makes a lot of the big plays. I think Chris Duhon is just so bad the Magic are looking for a backup PG.

Magic made the finals without Jameer. Played crappier when he played.

That's because he hadn't played in 4 months.

they played better w/o him. they would be much better with a Dre Miller PG there in a halfcourt offense.
