<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> I don't know about that. Weatherspoon is a pretty good rebounding and in my opinion, a better defensive player than Juwan Howard. Am I the only one that believes in Weatherspoon? All I am saying here is give him a chance and you might see something special. Like Padgett, who was given a chance in the eight game winning streak, he surprised all of us with his range. </div> i believe in weatherspoons ability and i think that it would be better if we had weatherspoon in the starting lineup then padgett because i think that weatherspoon could bring the toughness that we need because padgett is a bit undersized. and i also believe that we need more rebounds because we do better when we have we have a good game on rebounding.
Valid points, Spoon def. has the ability to rebound. Padgett is undersized. But you do not think that in the same regard Spoon's quickness or lack there of could be a problem? Pick ur poison? or in this case perhaps our death?
I guess i shouldnt have laughed at all thosse injurd teams. Fact is, the rockets werent good at the position to start with, and now they totally suck. Weaterspoon is better off to start. We need someone to rebound, padgett cant do that, he can shoot the three and all but we really dont need that, we need someone to help yao. Yao needs to step up on those rebounds a lot more, we have to have him step up. Howabout having Sura move to the 3, this way he can help make up for those board, not a good idea, but maybe. Luckily, we are in a situation where the playoffs are pretty clear. If the grizz, nuggets, mavs, etc could pull through, then the rockets can too, and we will win that nba title.
Four weeks is a whole month, and by the time Juwan returns, the regular season would almost be over. However, it might mean that Howard will be acclimated and in his best condition when playoffs begin. However, I'd rather not lose him at all. Weatherspoon, as I said in the other thread, is too small and slow IMO to guard the Duncans and Garnetts. McGrady at the four might work wonders actually, but it would be better if we could turn into a Phoenix-style team, with McGrady being the Rockets version of Shawn Marion. His body would take a toll though, but just imagine what a time he would have on offense with a much slower guy on him.

Do we really want to risk him having to box out and try to out rebound the bigger powerforwards- for an injury? I'm not sure he can take all that physical stuff down low since his body isn't really well equipped for it. Hey even Marion was injured when we played them. Phoenix is a different team though and have much more options beside Marion. We don't, if McGrady goes down, that takes away so much of our offense. Weatherspoon I think is quick enough to guard Garnett or Duncan. Its not like those two players run around the entire court trying to get open. They mostly post up and power in. Weatherspoon has the strength and ability to box out to D up those guys while Padgett probably isn't strong enough. Plus, Weatherspoon did a fairly nice job D'ing up Garnett against Minnesota the last time we played them, and hey, I would say he did a pretty commendable job.
There has been an article posted on the Houston Chronicle I think yesterday or 2 days ago which says that the Rockets are planning to acquire either Corie Blount or James Thomas to fill up the PF spot. It also says that the Rockets might choose Thomas over Blount. However the Rockets already have 15 players on the roster. They have to waive someone either Barrett or Moochie. I don't know if the Rockets are willing to buy out Moochie's remaining contract which is still worth millions. Probably Barrett would be the odd man out if this case goes through. Although Weatherspoon is the choice for the starting PF with his decent rebounding skills, he's also foul trouble prone and is a mismatch with opposing PFs with quickness, outside shooting and good ballhandling skills(take for example the next game against A.Walker of the Celtics). Padgett however can eliminate some of those things but when it comes to opposing PF posting up he will have a hard time defending. Baker has been a dissappointment during those two garbage time games he has played. Against the Blazers young players he has either been clobbered or blocked and his moves are predictable. Without an effective PF for the meantime let's just hope Sura will have his rebounding game again. He hasn't been able to rebound much the last few games.
