Re: JVG's Lottery Idea I understand where Van Gundy is coming from, and I definitely have never supported tanking, but I definitely disagree with it. It's already been said in the thread, but it would just be horrible for the good teams to get these up and coming stars while the bottom tier teams continue to suffer. Like Tony said, I'd rather have every team competitive than have half the league be competitive.I think it should stay the way it is.

Re: JVG's Lottery Idea Lmao, right before halftime of the grizzlies-lakers game, the Grizzlies commentators were talking about the comments...and one of them said "Jeff Van Gundy needs to shut up". Lol, I love that guy.

He calls it a reward for losing and makes teams tank. Thoughts?</div>of course hed say that. He wants to keep his good teams good and the bad teams bad. But would his team have Yao Ming or T-mac had this rule been there earlier??? hmmm....

Thank God for Kevin Pritchard for doing those awesome trades tho...I like how the lottery is right now.
Re: JVG's Lottery Idea T-mac was brought in through free-agency, he had nothing to do with the draft and that is the excitement of the draft, the lottery. If htere was no lottery it would tempt people to tank more that way they're secured a hgih draft pick.
Re: JVG's Lottery Idea Steve Francis was traded for Tracy McGrady...he wasnt drafted, nor signed as a FA by Houston.

Re: JVG's Lottery Idea I don't think it would be a good idea coz there is a chance the best team in the league could get 1st pick. The NBA would be more worthwhile and exciting if most teams could challenge for the playoffs rather than seeing top team (maybe) get even better.
Re: JVG's Lottery Idea exactly...how would teams like Charlotte...and Toronto and Grizzlies 10 yrs ago ever get better? Its rare to find a star in an expansion draft like Gerald Wallace.

Re: JVG's Lottery Idea Ive read someting where history tells that the team with the worst record hardly ever gets 1st overall...thats why I dont think Memphis is tanking...
Re: JVG's Lottery Idea No NBA teams are freaking tanking. God, nothing drives me more nuts than hearing that. Jeff Van Gundy is a moron.
Re: JVG's Lottery Idea It could potentially ruin the Eastern Conference even more. If a bad team like Boston or Charlotte was waiting on a pick, they would sink deeper and teams like the Mavricks would get even better. It also kills the whole "rebuilding" stage every team tries to do. They are considered a rebuilding team when they tank a season and need that high lottery pick to get a solid player or potential star to build around.
