I feel terrible not backing up the conservative side of this and I have plenty of problems with how the Democrats went about this. That said...

I saw his testimony and had a Susan Smith flashback. I knew she was lying the instant she spoke.

On the other hand I've come to the realization that he HAD to lie. I'd have said I drank a lot when I was a kid and may or may not have done what she said. And then I'd have been voted out.

I don't know if he did assault her and if he did I don't know if it was as bad as she claimed. I really don't. I suspect that he did.

I'm just sure as shit that he lied about drinking too much. My built in lie detector isn't proof though.

This. Though it's been interesting on 538 that the chances of the D's getting the house went from over 90% to 74% in the last couple of weeks. R's are now projected 77% of the time to keep the Senate. Those aren't using polls from after the 3rd, so it could be different. The logic has been that the R's pushing Kavanaugh through would help in the Senate and hurt in the House, but the trends (again: "polling") aren't showing that.

    November's going to be interesting.

Except that's now and not over a month from now. Republicans got revved up over the possibility of losing this judge and now will likely get him voted in thus they get what they wanted and will likely create a more relaxed atmosphere when it comes time to actually vote. In the mean time the Dems will be fired up for this guy getting confirmed and along with that and the women being upset from all sides could result in a big turnout and a blue wave.

"You lost on November 8, 2016.
You lost again today, October 5, 2018.
According to the polls, you'll lose again on November 6, 2018.
Your bitterness andhysteria in defeat is understandable."

And herein lies the problem with this country...
    It's not a game...

Just like I said y'all... It's really sad TBH...

Perhaps it's you that's catching on to the fact that I've known all along? ;)

The real shame is when they overturn Affirmative Action.

That law has helped more white women than any other demographic (Do your research before you comment on that).

I've never gotten any job because I was black, I'm good at what I do.

What's the case that is going to be brought up about it? Out of ignorance, I don't know how it would happen. I don't think that, if there were 5 who did want to overturn Roe v. Wade ( though I think that Casey v. PP is the more at-risk case) or AA, they can just say "hey guys, we're going to revisit this one." One of my friends is counsel on Joe Kennedy's case that is likely going to the Supreme Court as a 1A issue. That suit was originally brought in 2015, iirc, and it isn't yet on the 2019 docket.

As we've previously discussed, I think Casey was an overreach of the judges, whether or not you want abortions legal for people to use, and I know that's not everyone's opinion. And while I think that AA does more harm than good, I'll defer to others on that because at least some people are being helped. (Though I've been reading more about Candace Owens lately, and she seems to have some good points vis-a-vis the African-American community and their voting choices hurting them). I just don't know how what you're saying would happen.

Then again, I'm also a cigar and scotch in tonight, so maybe it's popcorn time? :)

That's exactly my point. And I don't like Silver's methodology at all with the "running totals" piece. I'm not saying I think those things will happen, but just as a delta between two data points among the same polls. I think we all learned in 2016 that pollsters (and the people who analyze them and write about them) can be agenda-having clowns. Some could argue that it hurt the D's because they thought "Well hell, if HRC is going to win in a landslide, I'm not going to take off work early and go out of my way to vote." Conversely, some could say "people went to vote for the 'winner', and that tamped down the desire for R's to go vote for someone who was going to lose anyway." I think the moral of the story is: "Go Do Your Civic Duty and Vote, even if you think Mickey Mouse is the best choice as a write-in."

I actually read the down-ballot stuff, like the Water Commissioner.

I notice a theme with how you think about everything... no accountability... it’s always someone else’s fault. Mad at the world instead of focusing on your own life.

The real shame is that abortion is legal and media frames it as pro choice... killing a baby should not be a choice... deciding to have sex is a choice... deciding to give a baby up for adoption is a choice... in your world anyone can do anything they want with no rules or consequences... very sad

Not your choice to make. Not mine either. Not any man. Men have no right to decide what women do with their bodies.

And its not a baby. Its a fetus without a heartbeat. It is not living. I don't agree with abortions anyway. Safe sex and adoption are better options in my mind as well. But, again not my choice. Not your choice.
