He reminds me in build of Adrian Dantley and Bernard King. He's obvious not at their skill level, though.
Eric Gordon, with a USG of 27 and a PER of 15 ... and people thought they hated Crawford? http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics/_/sort/usageRate
I wouldn't mid Jason Smith actually. I've always liked his game. Gordon would be a really good piece to go with Lillard and Aldridge.
If we traded Wes for a better SG, what exactly would the motivation be for the other team, trading for a worse SG?
what exactly do you mean by uneven trade? And what SG better than Wes is a team going to trade FOR Wes, for cap relief?
New Orleans for Gordon, although Portland would be getting killed in that deal. Gordon's contract is horrific and he's arguably the most overpaid player in the NBA right now.
Good call Craig. Your post makes sense. I would very much like that to happen. I mean ideally I would like to keep Wes and sign Ellis, but if it takes Wes to get it done, and allowed us to save extra money to sign someone else then I say go for it. Ellis and Lillard will terrorize other teams on offense. Our D may suffer though.
Rastopopoulos is correct to point out there is one guy we'd like to get rid of but can't. In retrospect it was a huge mistake signing Freeland to a three year contract. I think their plan was to develop him as an asset to be used in a trade, but it just didn't work out. Now he is a big drag on the salary cap and basically untradeable. I have to think that Olshey relied heavily on Buchanan and the European scouts in making this decision and I think the results must have him questioning their value to the organization. (Not to mention Olshey having to watch Nolan Smith all season!)
