    John Bitove had no say in the matter actually. It was established by Stern (I think when the Wolves came to the League) that no expansion team should get the #1 pick in the first 3 years of existance. I think it changed now.

    Wow, that is a horrible rule. No expansion team really makes it in the first year, I think it is only fair to give them the first pick. I hope they did change it now, because it helps the city get off to a good start if a hyped player comes to their team.

    Nah man, I'm pretty sure that the two Canadian teams were the only expansions that had that condition. Orlando came in at the same time as Minnesota (1989) and had the first overall pick in 1992. They did it because they didn't want their most marketable stars to be playing up in Canada.

    You could be right, but I highly doubt it.

    I'm gonna do a little more researching and get back to you on this one.
